Leo M. Retzki Jr., 82, of Amherst WI, passed away quietly on September 20, 2022, at Maple Ridge Memory Care. Through the amazing care of the staff at Maple Ridge, he was able to receive the attention and care needed in his final journey.
Leo was born on May 9, 1940, in Stevens Point, WI to Leo Sr. and Dorothy (Firkus) Retzki. Growing up he attended area schools graduating from P.J. Jacobs in 1958.
On September 1, 1960, Leo joined the Navy receiving an Honorable Discharge on August 14, 1964. Upon his discharge he went to work for Plover Whiting Paper Mill, then Neenah Papers and finally retiring from Kimberly Clark Papers.
On September 29, 1962, at St. Peter's Church Leo married the love of his life Sandra. Together they made Central Wisconsin their home where they raised their family. He enjoyed traveling, reading, hunting and fishing with his family.
Survivors include sons: Steve (Sandy) Retzki of Custer, Mike (Gail) of Amherst, Dan (Andrea) of Waupaca and David (Angela) of Spring Green.
Grandchildren: Kyle, Calvin, Nick, Cody, Kendall, Cayden, Tristan and Morgan.
Great Grandchildren: Evan, Finley, Acey and Ella.
Leo is preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother Louis Retzki.
The family would like to especially thank the amazing staff at Maple Ridge Memory Care who took such wonderful care of Dad. Your patience, kindness and support helped Dad in his final journey.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Leo will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday October 4, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church 1709 Wyatt Ave. Stevens Point. Rev. Todd Mlsna will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Pisarski Funeral Homes are honored to be serving the family.
