Leon D. "Junior" Hintz, age 89 of Stevens Point, WI passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Saturday, November 13th at the home he and his wife built.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Stevens Point. The Rev. James Trempe will officiate.
Visitation will take place in the Faustina Room at St. Peter's Church from 9:30AM until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 AM. Burial with full military honors will take place at Guardian Angel Cemetery. Pisarski Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.

Leon was born on May 14, 1932 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin to Leo and Lucy Hintz. He married the woman of his dreams Leone Zick on October 29, 1955 at Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Stevens Point, WI. They recently celebrated 66 years of marriage.
Leon worked for Joerns furniture and Kimberly Clark for a short time then worked in the yard as a scaler at Consolidated Papers in Wisconsin Rapids where he retired in 1993 after 43 years of service.
Leon retired as a Staff Sergeant in the Army National Guard after serving for 21 years. He was on active duty during the Berlin Crisis.
Leon enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and being outdoors. His hobby for many years was logging and making firewood. Many families were warmed by the wood he cut! He and Leone had a small cut your own Christmas tree farm. Leon loved to spend time in his garden. He enjoyed casinos, especially black jack and video poker. He loved watching the Green Bay Packers, and the Milwaukee Bucks. His favorite movies were Westerns, especially John Wayne and Matt Dillion. He and Leone spent a lot of time traveling, they especially loved cruising. Polka music was always heard at their house, especially when MollyB or Big Joe were on the television. The Blue Skirt Waltz was his and Leone's special song. There were always grandkids coming over to spend time with Leon, whether in the garden, the woods, fishing, or just hanging out. The kids always knew grandpa would share a Popsicle or ice cream treat with them.
Leon is survived by his wife, Leone (Zick) and four children Robert (Carol) Hintz Stevens Point, Pauline (Tom) Czaplinski Stevens Point, Jean (Dale) Ligman Stevens Point and Julie (Earl) Studinski Plover.
Nine grandchildren, Dan (Kim) Hintz, Jacob (Amanda) Hintz, Jesse (Rebecca Hoerter) Hintz, Jamie (Mike) Fitzner, Brian (Stephanie) Czaplinski, Holly (Eric) Chilson, Cassandra (Nevin Smith) Ligman, Mariah (Brucie) Studinski . Eleven Great-Grandchildren.
Leon is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Lucy Hintz, Sister Beatrice Nagorski, five step sisters, Caroline, Esther, Lucy, Florence, and Joan.
