Leonard Chester King, age 97, of Stevens Point, passed away with his loving family at his side, on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at The Lodge at Whispering Pines.

He was born in Stevens Point on September 17, 1924, a son of the late Stephen and Mary (Suchowski) King. Leonard attended local schools and went to work on the family farm in the Town of Hull. In 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served overseas during WWII receiving the Victory Medal, American Theatre Ribbon, European – African – Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon, Bronze Battle Star, Overseas Service Bar and the Good Conduct Medal.

On September 3, 1951, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Torun he was united in marriage to Theresa Dulak.

He was employed at Maynard Steel Casting Company as a welder in Milwaukee. The couple moved to Stevens Point, and later settled in the Town of Dewey where he began dairy farming, as well as working at Joerns and as a milk truck driver, and fuel delivery driver, before retiring. He was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, former member of the Holy Name Society, Usher, Town of Dewey constable, and former member of the Dewey Fire Department.

Leonard enjoyed daily Mass, EWTN programs, watching all types of sports and helping on the farm. His greatest joy was visits with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards with them and spending time at the King and Dulak family reunions. A few years ago, he was honored to take part in the Never Forgotten Honor Flight, which he and his daughter, Mary, traveled to Washington D.C.

Leonard is survived by; his children, Elaine (Richard) Eckendorf, Maurice (Joanne) King, Greg King, Mary (Randy) Kolodziej, Eugene (Renee) King, Kay King (Dr. Austin Lampert), Monica King, Wayne King, and Gary (Annmarie) King; 17 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren with another due any day; sister Dorothy Arndorfer; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by; his parents, his wife, Theresa, in March of this year; brothers, Roman, Edward, Harry, Stanley, Bernie and Carl; sisters, Theresa Hanson , Anna Dachyk and Jean Borski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Casmir Catholic Church, 203 Casimir Rd, Stevens Point at 10:30AM on Thursday, October 14, 2021 with Rev. Arul Joseph Visuvasam presiding. Burial with Military Honors and Fire Department Honors will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a Visitation at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Plover, 2911 Plover Road, Plover on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM concluding with a Parish Rosary being prayed. A visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 9:30AM until the time of the Mass. Masks will be required at the visitation and funeral services.
