Leonard R. Wiza
Of Junction City, WI died early Saturday morning, July 10, 2021 at his home with his family at his side while under the care of Heartland Hospice. Age 86 Leonard was born January 9, 1935 on the farm in the Town of Carson. He was the son of the late Alois and Margaret (Rutta) Wiza. Leonard attended local grade schools and also P.J. Jacobs High School.
Leonard entered the United States Army in 1959, serving his country in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1961
Leonard married the former Caroline Hojnacki on September 30, 1961 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. After their marriage the couple settled in Junction City. His wife Caroline survives.
Leonard was a Dairy Farmer for over 50 years, while also doing Construction and Carpentry work until his retirement in 2010. Leonard loved hunting and fishing, listening to Polka music and spending all the time he could with family and friends. He also served as the Farm Bureau Director for Portage County for over 40 years, and was a member of the American Legion Post 0468 of Milladore.
In Lieu of flowers, a memorial in Leonard's name will be established at a later date.
Survivors include his wife Caroline, one son Robert (Karen) Wiza of Junction City, two daughters; Marie (Ed) Meis and Linda (Doug) Phillips both of Mosinee. His three grandchildren; Dustin (Savannah) Wiza of Junction City, Alicia Meis and Emily Phillips both of Mosinee, two great grandchildren Jaxson and Brielle Wiza and one sister Bernice Jagodzinski of Vesper. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Loretta Kawleski.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Junction City. Rev. Packi officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the St. Michael's Parish Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 9:00 A.M. Wednesday morning at St. Michael's Church until the time for mass.
