Lloyd J. Firkus (100), of Stevens Point passed away Sunday evening, April 30, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Lloyd was born February 27, 1923 in Stevens Point. He was the son of the late Joseph and Johanna (Stark) Firkus.
He attended local schools, graduating from PJ Jacobs High School. Lloyd joined the United States Army on May 6, 1946 in Milwaukee, WI. He served as a Platoon Sergeant with the 25 th CM CO. Lloyd served during World War II in Osaka, Japan. He received the World War II Victory medal and the Army of Occupation medal and was also a M1 Rifle Marksmanship Shooter.
His marriage to his "sweetheart" Ramona Adams took place September 7, 1953 at St. Bronislava Church. After their marriage the couple settled in the Town of Stockton.
Lloyd owned and operated Lloyd Firkus Trucking and Implements while farming for more than 70 years.
In his younger years, Lloyd enjoyed deer and big game hunting, going to farm machinery auctions, spending time with family and nature, including many family hayrides. Lloyd and Ramona together enjoyed many polka dances with family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife Ramona, their children, Linda (Bill) Konkol, Lori (Rick) Miskoski, Lonnie (Denise), Lynette Patoka, Melanie (Jim) Kizewski, Lisa (Rob) Molski, Michelle (Joe) Halfman, Marla (Bill) Wysocki, Lloyd (Christine).
Grandchildren: Marilee, Lindsey, Mitchell, Derek, Mike, Stephanie, Alysa, Wesley, Curtis, Katie, Kristi, Hilary, Mica, Cale, Emily, Alex, Zachary, Isaac, Lloyd, Jacob. As well as 13 loving Great Grandchildren. Further survived by his sister-in-law Gerri Ross, and brother-in-law Dan Adamczak.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, and was the last of 12 children (3 brothers, 8 sisters) and also son-in-law Mark Adamski.
The family would like to thank the Aspirus Hospital staff, as well as Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 4, 2023 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Ed Shuttleworth officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the St. Bronislava Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. Thursday morning at the Church until the time of mass.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in his name will be established at a later date.
