Lloyd M. Lundgren, 96 of Stevens Point, died peacefully on February 28th, 2025 at Whispering Pines Assisted Living while under hospice care.
Lloyd was born on May 19th, 1928. He was the youngest son of Claude and Alice (Soper) Lundgren. He was married to Gloria M. Skalski on September 26th, 1950. She preceded him in death after 52 years of marriage. He was a graduate of P.J. Jacob's High School. Lloyd proudly served his country. He entered into the army during the Korean War in 1952. He was honorably discharged in 1953. Lloyd grew up on the family's turkey farm in the town of Dewey. The farm still stands today under the loving care of his nephew, Randy, and his wife, Clytie.
Lloyd cherished and loved each and every one of his nieces and nephews as well as their children, some of which are of his namesake.
Lloyd started his working life as a mechanic in his brother-in-law's, Robert Borchardt, garage. He then worked at Preway in Wisconsin Rapids. From there he went to UWSP as a maintenance man and worked his way up to being the maintenance supervisor. Lloyd was very well liked by all the maintenance people under him. He ended his working career in the UWSP duplicating department and retired in 1989. Lloyd and Gloria were then able to travel the U.S. in their R.V.
Lloyd was a loving husband and father. He also had a profound love of animals and had many pets throughout his life.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria, and his siblings and their spouses; Ruth (Harvey) Nelson, Ruby (Greg) Stroik, Geneva (Robert) Borchardt, Arnold (Alice) Lundgren, and Leroy Lundgren. He is further preceded in death by his nephew, Rob Borchardt, niece, Janice Timm, and Sandy Nelson, and Dennis Gere.
He is survived by his daughter, Mari-Kris Lamay (Dennis) Borski, his special cat, Mama Mia, sister-in-law, Lorraine Lundgren, and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the Aspirus Hospice staff and the staff at Whispering Pines and The Lodge.
