Louis M. Gard (Gardzielewski) died Wednesday October 13, 2021 peacefully at his home in Stevens Point, WI. Louie was born September 8,1934 in Chicago Illinois, son of the late Louis F. and Anna Gardzielewski (Sabota). He married the late Elaine Gard (Burant) on June 30,1962 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Stevens Point.
Early in life Louie served as a wheel and track mechanic in the Army and later in the National Guard. Following discharge, he moved to Stevens Point where he met his wife, Elaine. Louie opened his own automobile repair shop, Louie's Skelly, on North Second Street. He relocated his business to the south side on Church Street as Louie's Service and later relocated one last time to a location on the Polish Square near The Majestic Hotel.
Louie was a very social person and a member of many clubs and organizations. It always seemed Louie had friends and acquaintances wherever he went. He and his family enjoyed snowmobiling with the Pok-A-Snoz Snowmobile Club, boating with the Stevens Point Yacht Club, and camping with the Valley Bummers Camping Club. He was a member of the AMVETS, Elks Club, Knights of Columbus, and the Loyal Order of the Moose.
Louie was most active in the Loyal Order of the Moose where he was honored for exceptional service to the fraternity. He achieved the title of Pilgrim, the highest degree which can be bestowed upon a member. He cherished all of the relationships he built at the Moose and other clubs.
Survivors include his daughter Sandra Pederson (David) of Kewaunee, son Douglas (Diane) of Richfield and his two grandchildren Haily Pederson of Kohler and Jacob Pederson of Kewaunee. He is further survived by his sister Louise Olesen (Gerald) of Florida and Michael Gardzielewski of Stevens Point. Many nieces and nephews. The family is especially thankful for Louie's great friends, Tom Knowlton and Bob Klein of Stevens Point.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine and sister Sylvia Schabow.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Louie will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday October 19, 2021, at St. Casimir Catholic Church 203 Casimir Road Stevens Point. Rev. Arul Joseph Visuvasam will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Pisarski Funeral Home 703 Second Street Stevens Point and again on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Moose ritual will be held at 6:00 p.m. and an Elk's ritual will be held at 6:15 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family is strongly encouraging that masks be worn at the visitation and at the funeral mass.
