Louise A. Raikowski, age 86, of Stevens Point, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Care Partners in Stevens Point, with her loving family at her side.
Louise was born on January 10, 1938 in Stevens Point, a daughter of the late Paul and Ann (Majka) Pliska.
Louise met a young, local farmer, after he had returned from the Korean war and David S. "Chief" Raikowski became her husband on June 6, 1955 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point. The young couple made their home in the Town of Carson where Louise cared and fostered their 13 wonderful children while Chief worked construction.
Louise was a longtime member of Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church.
After the kids had grown a bit, she worked at Del Monte and loved working with the people, but being back with her young maturing children was her calling. Louise loved life, be it standing on her porch waving until you were out-of-sight, making sure you didn't leave hungry, planning, shopping, and decorating for Christmas, cheering on the Packers while hosting her family, checking out rummage sales or using her skills sewing and knitting clothes (which she learned from her mother-in-law) and making Papcie's (Polish for Slippers) for family and friends. Her greatest joy was being with her large family and especially her husband, David "Her Johnny Cash"
She is survived by her children, Frank (Cherie) Raikowski, Jerry (Bonnie) Raikowski, Dave (Maggie) Raikowski, Jr., Cynthia "Cindi" (Rick) Martin, Mary (Scott) Wanta, Deborah (Ken) Laczkowski, Randy (Lisa) Raikowski, Dawn (Mike) Jenner, Jack (Melinda) Raikowski, Peggy (Roland) McMahon, Bob (Lori) Raikowski and Kevin (Carita) Raikowski; 38 Grandchildren; 64 Great-Grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Sheila Raikowski; her siblings, Emily Studinski, Patricia Schulta, Paul "Ronnie" (Karen) Pliska, Bonnie Pliska-Schrage and Theresa "Terri" Pliska; sister-in-law, Bonnie Pliska; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ernest and Mary Ann Sniadejewski; sister-in-law, Joan Raikowski; along with numerous other relatives and many friends.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David in 2019; son William "Bill", 15 days before her death; grandson-in-law, Harry ZeRuth; son-in-law, Bryan Dorshorst; brother, Leonard Pliska; half-brother, Sam Pliska; brothers-in-law, John Studinski, Jim Schulta, John Raikowski and Ronnie Pliska.
