Luke F. Wojtalewicz

Luke F. Wojtalewicz, age 93, of Stevens Point, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital with his loving family at his side.

Luke was born on February 5, 1928 in Dancy, WI, a son of the late Frank and Eleanor (Kawleski) Wojtalewicz. He attended local schools and then worked on the family farm until enlisting in the U.S. Army Air-Corp in 1946 at age 17. Luke served Honorably in the Air Force until his separation in March of 1949.

While in the Air Force he was married to Lorraine R. Groholski on February 26, 1948 in the Chapel at Hamilton Field Air Force base in California. The couple made their home in Stevens Point after his service.

At age 65, Luke retired from Lullabye, Mfg. as Plant Supervisor after 40 plus years with the Company. After retirement, Luke enjoyed helping his son Karl at his Service Station. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and previously St. Casimir. Luke enjoyed anything in the outdoors, be it hunting, fishing, cutting wood or just wandering in his woods.  He would look forward to the occasional poker games with his family and friends but most loved spending time with his family and many grandchildren.

He is survived by; sons, Curt Wojtalewicz, Michael (Mary Sue) Wojtalewicz, Luke (Janice) Wojtalewicz, all of Plover and Karl Wojtalewicz, of Stevens Point; daughters, Susan (Fran) Faber, of McFarland, Linda (Dale) Sankey of McFarland and Kim (Eric) Gundersen of Stevens Point; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Katherine Wojtalewicz; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Luke was preceded in death by; his parents, his wife Lorraine in 2009; and his siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, 800 4 ^th Ave., Stevens Point, at 10:30AM on Friday, September 24, 2021 with Rev. Arul Joseph Visuvasam presiding.  Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery with Military Honors.  Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday at the church, from 9:00AM until the time of the Mass.
