Funeral Services are at 10am Friday December 16, 2022 at Saint Peter's Catholic Church, Stevens Point, WI. Visitation will be 8:30-10am. Burial at Guardian Angel Cemetery will follow the services at Saint Peter's Catholic Church.
Madeline was born October 13, 1931 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin to John and Helen (Szydlowski/Shedrafski) Golla. She married Paul Landowski on July 20, 1957 at Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Stevens Point, WI.
Madeline's pride was her family. She loved her family immensely and it was the sole thing she valued most. She had five talented sons that learned trades from their father and were supported with her gentle hand and kind heart. As they became young men, she welcomed their wives into her home treating them as daughters she always wished for and finally received. She was blessed with many talented grandchildren taking up carefully crafted skills of their desire.
The matriarch of this family, Madeline, was the backbone, strength and wealth that her family grew from. She radiated love in everything she did and touched. She often expressed her love through food and made sure her family was well fed with an assortment of snacks. She was notorious for saying, "I'm not sure how good it is" of a new recipe that was certain to please. Her desserts were plentiful and when the holidays arrived everyone coveted her special Christmas Cookies amongst her numerous varieties of cookies and we cannot forget her phenomenal fudge. She carefully crafted her gardens that were bountiful with produce that she canned for the winter months and shared with her family. This was a tradition she learned as a young child working with her mother and shared the skill of canning with her family. She would reminisce about the times she would can all the various types of produce such as beets, tomatoes and green beans but she fondly reflected on canning peaches with her mother and the wonderful taste from the fruits of their labor.
Madeline had the biggest heart of all. She never denied anyone a place at her table. All were welcome with open arms and offered a plate of her amazing food. She is quoted as saying that, "No one should be alone at the holiday and all are welcome in her home with her family." She loved to share the pot of coffee with her belated husband Paul. Over the years, the coffee maker became bigger as the family grew so everyone that desired that Navy tradition of black coffee was able to partake. In times past, she would enjoy these cups of coffee with her dear loved ones while waiting to pick up Paul from the Soo-Line or merely passing the time and catching up.
Madeline was a craftsperson much like her husband Paul; only her focal point was sewing and crocheting. She crafted lovely afghans for her home and loved ones. It is known that there was love in every stitch and if you were near or far and wrapping yourself in a blanket of hers it was known that you should consider yourself cradled in a hug from her.
Madeline is survived by her five children Gerald (Linda) Landowski of Custer, WI, Thomas (Krissy Heins) Landowski of Stevens Point, WI, Terrence (Louise) Landowski of Plover, WI, Randall (Diane) Landowski of Custer, WI and Kevin Landowski of Stevens Point, WI; 8 grandchildren, Kristin (BC Brazeau) Landowski of Oakland, CA, Serena (Dave) Hayes of Stevens Point, WI, Sherri (Tim) Cisewski of Custer, WI, Ben Landowski of Stevens Point, WI, Hilary Landowski of Plover, WI, Tara Landowski of Stevens Point, WI, Valerie Landowski of Washington DC, Vincent Landowski of Plover, WI; and 5 great grandchildren: Michael Cisewski, Lucas Cisewski, Lillian Cisewski, Eva Cisewski and Oscar Hayes.
Madeline is preceded in death by her husband Paul, her parents John and Helen (Szydlowski/Shedrafski) Golla. Her siblings Chester, Edward, Jerome, Theresa, Robert, Eugene, Christine (Robert "Spike" Pagel), her twin Mary and Ramona (Fred "Fritz" Siegel).
