Marie Ann Babas, 97, of Stevens Point, died Sunday September 19, 2021, at Maple Ridge Memory Care in Plover. She was under the care of Heartland Hospice. Marie was born on July 26, 1924 in Stevens Point.
She was the daughter of the late Frank and Proxedes (Herman) Knapp. She attended local schools, graduating from St. Joseph's Academy in 1942.
Her marriage to Stephen Babas took place in 1945 at St. Peters Catholic Church.
Stephen preceded her in death. Marie worked as a book keeper at First National Bank in Stevens Point, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of the St. Peters Rosary Society and also volunteered her time at the church.
She enjoyed, knitting, sewing, making candy and loved Buffy her cat.
Survivors include her children, Richard "Rich" Babas of Plains Montana and Mary (Don) Dombrowski of Waupaca.
Three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren,
She was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Kulich and her brother, Don.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Marie will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday September 23, 2021, at St. Peter Catholic Church Stevens Point. Rev. Arul Joseph Visuvasam will officiate. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service in the St. Faustina room at the church, rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials in her name will be established at a later date.
