Margaret "Marie" Mallick, age 93, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on April 11, 2023 at Willow Brook Senior Living. Born on March 13, 1930 to Marvin and Verona "Vernie" (Strike) Dalsbo in Stevens Point, WI. Marie grew up in Stevens Point with a caring heart and a knack for making people happy. Marie met John P. Mallick in 1949. They were married on April 15, 1950 and celebrated 67 years of marriage.
Marie's love of serving people started with a waitress job as a teenager. Even then, she enjoyed meeting new people and knew it was her calling to bring joy to others with kindness and good conversation. Later, she worked with her Aunt Helen at Northside Grocery Store where she delighted the neighborhood kids with penny candy.
In 1967 Marie partnered with her Aunt and opened Helen and Marie's Tap on the Market Square. In 1972, Marie opened and ran Top Hat Bar, which quickly became a popular spot in town known for good times, laughter, and a competitive game of Screwy Louie. She loved all the people she met and the friends she made over the years and never tired of toasting everyone "Happy Happy" whenever she was out and about. While her passing is certainly a loss, we rejoice in celebrating a remarkable life that was lived fully and with great joy. Rest in peace Happy Happy and keep the bar stocked in heaven.
Marie is survived by her children; Linda Chase (Greg), Rhody Mallick (Jean), Karlyn Krautkramer (Kevin/Krauty), Michelle Schmidt (Robert), John Jay Mallick (Kristine); her grandchildren Shana Halverson (Andrew), Max Schmidt, Sam Schmidt, Jaylyn Mallick; her great grandchildren Alex, Mason, and Elise Halverson; her siblings Dorothy Lodzinski, Beverly Heftman, Lance Heaser, and Linda Sylvester; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Rita Stanchik and Kenny Dalsbo, and her husband John, who passed on July 17, 2017.
Visitation will be held at the Pisarski Funeral Home, 703 Second Street, Stevens Point, WI. on Saturday, May 27th at 12:00 – 3:00 PM, followed by services and a Celebration of Life for both John and Marie Mallick.
