Marilyn Ann Barsi, 84 of Plover, passed away on Saturday, August 9th, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Pierce City, MO on December 23, 1940, daughter to Edward and Margaret Gorman.
Marilyn graduated from Saint Mary College in Leavenworth, KS, where she received a degree in English and Home Economics. Following her studies, she entered religious life with the Sisters of Charity, where she taught for nine years in Butte, MT and Kansas City, KS. During this time, she developed her love and commitment to Jesus Christ. Marilyn then earned her Masters in English from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN.
She met her husband-to-be, Paul Barsi, while teaching at Saint Dominic High School in O'Fallon, MO. A year after meeting, they got married on August 29th, 1971 at Saint Susanne Parish in Mount Vernon, MO. In 1973, Marilyn and Paul welcomed their first son, Brad. In 1975, their second son, Brian, was born. The family moved around with stops in Saint Charles, MO, Quincy, IL, Sedalia, MO, Winona, MN before settling down in Plover, WI in 1983. As a young family, they enjoyed visiting Table Rock Lake, spending time at parks and zoos, and were involved in church activities. After teaching, Marilyn worked as the director of religious education for Saint Bronislava Parish before she moved into another career phase with Renaissance Learning.
Marilyn was an avid reader. She enjoyed gardening, spending time at the family cabin Up North, watching Oklahoma Football with her husband Paul, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, and traveling the world with Paul, her children, grandchildren, and friends. Her favorite place to visit was Italy. Marilyn was also a Life Master Bridge Player and participated in many sectional and regional tournaments.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Kaye Howe.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Paul, sons, Brad and Brian (Selena Demulling), her grandchildren Brittney (Vlad Toropov) and Brandon, her step-grandchildren, Christian and Alex Demulling, and her brother, John Gorman.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial for Marilyn will be established at a later date.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Marilyn will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025 at Holy Spirit Church, 2151 Stanley Street, Stevens Point. Father Steven Brice will be presiding. Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM at the church until the time of service. Burial will follow after the luncheon at 2:30 PM in Guardian Angel Cemetery, 1232 Wilshire Blvd, Stevens Point. Pisarski Funeral Homes are honored to be serving the Barsi Family.
