Mary Margaret Brilowski, 93, of Plover, WI, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 16, 2024, at The Lodge at Whispering Pines in Plover, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on March 30, 1931, at home in Blenker, WI, to Ignatius and Anna (Pongratz) Minch, Mary was the second eldest of ten siblings.
Mary married the love of her life, Joseph J. Brilowski, on May 18, 1953. They shared 57 wonderful years together until Joseph's passing in 2010. She is now reunited with him in eternal peace. After her husband's passing, Mary found joy and companionship in her beloved dog, Snoopy, who was a faithful friend to her in her later years.
Mary is survived by her devoted children: Debra (Thomas) Klismith of Plover, WI; Mark (Wendy) Brilowski of Centerville, MN; and Michael (David Martineau) Brilowski of Waupaca, WI. She also leaves behind her beloved siblings: Joan (Ralph) Woyak, Kathy Kostuch, Ron (Grace) Minch, Francis Minch, Grace David, and Linda Minch. Cherished grandchildren include Brandon (Angela) Peterson of Gainesville, FL; Brett (Brittany) Peterson of Plover, WI; Katherine Brilowski of Eau Claire, WI; Joseph Brilowski of Centerville, MN; Karli Klismith of Plover, WI; and Cole Klismith of Port Orange, FL. Mary also leaves behind her treasured great-grandchildren: Daxton and Rylee Peterson of Plover, WI, and Evelyn Peterson of Gainesville, FL.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ignatius and Anna Minch; her husband, Joseph Brilowski; her sisters, Betty Wondzell, Helen Seubert, and Dorothy Check; and her son-in-law, John Peterson.
Mary grew up in Milladore, WI, moving there at the age of four. She attended Milladore Grade School and completed her high school education at PJ Jacobs in Stevens Point, WI, graduating in 1950. In order to attend high school, she relocated from Milladore, to Stevens Point, WI, where she lived with the Connie and Dorothy Somers family. While attending school, Mary worked for her room and board, caring for the Somers' children, Mike and Mark.
After graduation, she worked at Hardware Mutual for four years, Parkinsons Clothing doing alterations and later at St. Michael's Hospital as a seamstress in the laundry department, before eventually working in the cafeteria and coffee shop.
A woman of strong faith, Mary was a devout member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Stevens Point, WI. She also served in the Rosary Society and was an active member of the River Lioness Club. Known for her exceptional sewing and baking skills, Mary took great pride in preparing pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving, using her mother's cherished recipes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 2151 Stanley Street, Stevens Point, WI 54481 at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 with Rev. Steven J. Brice officiating. Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, at the church, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Lodge at Whispering Pines and the caregivers from Aspirus Wausau Hospice for their compassionate care.
Mary will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion to her family, and her unwavering faith. May she rest in peace.
