Mary T. Lassa of Stevens Point died Saturday April 8, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Age 85, Mary was born June 27, 1937 in Stevens Point. She was the daughter of the late Bernard and Katherine (Drefcinski) Walashek. Mary attended St. Peters Grade School and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy.
Her marriage to Herman Lassa took place on May 3, 1958, at St. Peter's Catholic Church. After their marriage the couple settled in Stevens Point. Her husband Herman survives. As a young woman Mary worked for Journal Printing and First National Bank for a number of years. She then worked as a teacher's aide for the Stevens Point School District at James Madison Elementary until her retirement.
Mary enjoyed cooking & baking, gardening, watching the Milwaukee Brewers and Bucks with her husband, puzzles and spending time with family and friends. She relied on her daily faith to get through both good times and bad.
Mary is survived by her husband Herman, daughter; Kathy (Ken) Glodowski of Amherst, Son-in-Law Scott Peterson of Amherst, Sons Michael (Denise) Lassa of Stevens Point, Patrick (Darcy) Lassa of Amherst Junction and Kenneth (Jim Wanta) Lassa of Bevent; Nine grandchildren; Michael Glodowski, Claire Karl, Katie Trzebiatowski, Pat Peterson, Paul Peterson, Megan Lassa, Nicole Blake, Danica Lassa and Allison Lassa; Four Great-Grandchildren; Maxton & Royce Trzebiatowski, Jade Anderson & Gracie Blake; two sisters Fran Lassa and Rose (Maury) Stoltz; Three sisters-in-law Marian (Bill) Kolinski, Genevieve Bialas and Sue Wierzba. Mary was preceded in death by her daughter Ann (Scott) Peterson of Amherst, her parents, her Stepmother Laura Walashek and a brother-in-law Robert Lassa.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday April 14, 2023, at St. Peter Catholic Church 800 Fourth Ave. Stevens Point. Rev. Arul Joseph Visuvasam will officiate. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of mass in the St. Faustina room at the church. Rosary will be prayed at 9:00 a.m. Friday.
