Mary R. Wisinski

February 10, 1942 — January 8, 2025

Stevens Point

Mary R. Wisinski of Stevens Point passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 8, 2025, at her home with her loving husband by her side while under the care of Heartland Hospice. She was 82.

Mary was born on February 10, 1942, the daughter of the late Angeline (Podjaski) Bronk and John Bronk of Hatley, WI.
Mary attended Saint Ladislaus Parish School in Bevent, WI, and later attended Wittenberg High School.

In adulthood, after finishing school, Mary made the adventurous move from the family farm in Hatley to Stevens Point, where she found her passion in food service, working at River Pines in Stevens Point.

Once in Stevens Point, Mary met her future husband, Ernest Wisinski, at a wedding at the American Legion in Stevens Point, WI. By chance, Mary lived in a rental house on Union Street, directly behind Ernest's parents' house on Meadow Street in Stevens Point.

Her marriage to Ernest Wisinski took place on May 27, 1967, at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Bevent, WI. They were married for 57 years.

After marrying Ernest, Mary stayed home raising their two sons, Mark and Todd Wisinski. Mary was a loving mother and wife, and her family was always her first priority. Once the boys started school, Mary returned to work in food service for the Stevens Point Area School District. In the early 1980s, when the family moved to Colorado, Mary continued working in food service for the school district in Thornton, Colorado. Upon returning to Stevens Point in the spring of 1985, Mary resumed working for the Stevens Point Area School District, where she worked until her retirement.

Mary was exceptionally skilled with her hands and took great pride in caring for her home, always creating a warm and inviting space for her family. Her love for cooking was evident in the meals she lovingly prepared—her chili and burritos being long-time family favorites. She delivered 5-star meals every day, especially during the holidays. Mary was always willing to volunteer her cooking and baking skills for any friends in need of a dish to pass at events. Each spring, she looked forward to planting flowers in the yard, bringing beauty and life to her surroundings. You could also find her house decorated for every season, both inside and out.

Mary had a strong sense of fashion. She always dressed up, changed her hairstyles, and loved accessorizing with jewelry.

Mary was a very social person who got along with everyone. She enjoyed keeping track of her sons' and grandchildren's activities, often attending sporting events, concerts, and plays. For her grandson Neal's bass fishing tournaments, she would often call directly to the boat for live tournament updates.

Mary also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino. She liked traveling to local taverns with her husband Ernest to visit their many friends. In the summer, Mary and Ernest attended nearly every church picnic in the area, where she loved to play bingo.

Mary is survived by her husband, Ernest; her children, Mark (Jane) and Todd, both of Stevens Point; and her grandchildren, Neal, Allison, Jackie, and Crystal, all of Stevens Point, except for Jackie, who lives in Fort Collins, CO. She is also survived by her sister, Susan (Raymond) Zajackowski of Hatley, and her brother, Joseph Bronk of Hatley. Further surviving are her brother-in-law, Donald Wisinski of Stevens Point; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann (Cliff) Pflugardt of Stevens Point; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Wisinski of Stevens Point; and her sister-in-law, Leona Wisinski of Port Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Angeline and John Bronk; her brother, Edward Bronk; her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia (Stanley) Zynda; and her in-laws, Alois and Margaret Wisinski. She was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Clarence Pampuch; brother-in-law, Chester Wisinski; sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Hubert Yenter; sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Reynold Skiba; sister-in-law, Kathleen Wisinski; and brother-in-law, Leonard Wisinski.

Special thanks to Heartland Hospice for the special care provided to Mary, and special thanks to Jodi, who was present when Mary passed.
