Neil C. Peterson, age 84, of Stevens Point, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at the North Central Health Care Nursing Home in Wausau.
Neil was born May 30, 1938 in Camp Douglas on the family farm, a son of the late Clifford and Vera (Niles) Peterson.
He was united in marriage to the former Maxine Ewert on June 4, 1960 in Mauston.
Neil enlisted in the U.S. Army serving proudly as an SP4 from June 1956 until being transferred to the WI National Guard and being Honorably Discharged in February 1964. He was very proud of his service to our Country.
Neil was employed with the Gehl Co. as a Salesman for many years and then with Worzalla Publishing until his retirement at age 65.
In his free time, he enjoyed following NASCAR, being outdoors, hunting and camping and he was always quick to bend your ear with a joke. His most precious time was being with his family and especially, his grandchildren.
Survivors includer his daughter, Vicki (Roger) Binkowski; six grandchildren, Amanda (Matt) Glover, Samantha (Chris) Lefebvre, Nichole (Ryan) Brewer, Melinda (Travis) Nix, Jonathan (Heather) Peterson and Kasandra (David) Tessmann; two step grandchildren, Heather and Tyler Binkowski; eleven great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-law, Deb Peterson; brother, Alan (Diane) Peterson; sisters-in-law, Beverly Curtin, Marion Krane, Shirley Bruesewitz and Diane Bauer; along with numerous other relatives and a host of friends, especially his good friend Norbie Heiss.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Maxine, in September of 2022; his son Tom, in August of 2022; sisters, Marion (August) Wollin and Christine (Richard) Sorenson; along with many brothers and sisters-in-law.
Neil's family wishes to thank Hannah Oswald, DNP of Aspirus and the Promedica Hospice Team for their care, compassion, their presence and the love that they gave to not only Neil, but to all of us.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM at the Plover VFW Post 10262, 2970 Hickory Dr., Plover, WI 54467. Military Honors will be performed at 2:00PM.
