Born on May 4, 1943, to Stanley and Harriett (Garceau) Trebatoski, Pat was raised in the heart of Stevens Point, in the Illinois Avenue neighborhood, surrounded by many relatives. She attended St. Stanislaus Grade School and Maria High School before earning a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from St. Norbert College and a Master's Degree in the Science of Teaching from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point.
Pat devoted 35 years to teaching, primarily as a 6th-grade teacher in the Stevens Point School District. She touched countless lives through her passion for education, her dedication to her students, and her commitment to making learning meaningful and fun.
Growing up with five brothers and one sister, Pat was always active and competitive. She played softball, basketball, and football in her youth. As a young adult, she enjoyed golf, volleyball, bowling in a league, and even dabbled in racquetball. Later in life, she became an enthusiastic spectator of sports, faithfully cheering on the Packers, the Badgers, and the Pointer men's basketball team.
Pat was a talented cook who delighted in preparing meals and treats to share with family, friends, and neighbors. Her bread and butter pickles and refrigerator dills were legendary. She never missed a birthday, and for those living nearby, she would often prepare their favorite meal to celebrate. Her love for her nieces and nephews was boundless and she cherished every moment spent with them. Overnights and special outings were filled with laughter, love, and of course, her famous crepes for breakfast.
Pat treasured her friendships and found joy in gathering with others. She played cards regularly with five different groups and was a member of a book club focused on readings of social justice. A devoted parishioner, she served on the Holy Spirit Pastoral Council during the 100-year celebration of St. Stanislaus and was honored to be among the first to break ground for the new parish center.
Her spirit of service extended beyond the church. Pat was a dedicated volunteer at Operation Bootstrap for over 50 years. She lived her values daily, always showing care and concern for others, especially those in need.
Pat is survived by her brothers Bob, Mike (Jeanie), John (Karen), her sister Carol (Dennis) Mallison, and her sister-in-law Carol Trebatoski. She has 12 nieces and nephews and 23 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Tom and Joe, and sister-in-law Kay.
Her priorities in life were her faith, her family, and her friends. She will be remembered for her generosity, her compassion, her joyful hospitality, and the deep love she showed to everyone blessed to know her.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Operation Bootstrap. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Compassus Home Health, Dr. Islam and the Aspirus Oncology team, as well as the compassionate and dedicated staff of the 5th floor at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital, for their exceptional care and support.
