Peter L. Leutik
Age 73 of Plainfield passed away early evening February 4, 2022 at Ascension St. Michaels Hospital. Peter was born January 2, 1949 in Chicago, IL. He was the son of the late Peter and Florence (Mitchell) Leutik. Peter entered the United States Army on August 11, 1966 in Chicago. He served as a SP 5 with the 129 th ASLT HEL. CO. serving as a Helicopter mechanic. He also served a number of years in the United States Army Reserves. Peter received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Viet Nam Campaign medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, MKM M-14 sharp shooters medal, the ACFM (Army Combat Fitness Badge), ARCOM (the army Commendation Medal) with "V" device, with four overseas battle stars, Air Medal with "V" device and two Purple Hearts. He was honorably discharge on August 10, 1972 in St. Louis, MO
Upon his return from the service, Peter worked for Knaack transporters as a truck driver for many years retiring in 2007. Peter was a member of the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Post 388 of Wausau, was a lifetime member of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans and was an active member of the Vietnam Helicopter Crewmember Association.
In his free time Peter enjoyed shooting pool, was a lover of the outdoors and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles. He also enjoyed the company of his dogs.
Survivors include his children; Sherri (Vince) Minniti of Naperville, IL., Anthony Leutik of Forest Park, IL, Marlena Leutik, Rochelle, IL, Garrett Leutik of Twin Lakes, WI., and Karrie (Jim) O'Regan of Spring Grove, IL. and one step daughter Donna Proenzano of Wonder Lake, IL.
His eight grandchildren Jacqueline, Mackenzie, Anthony Leutik, Anthony Freeman, Adriana, Antonia, Parker and Brogan. He is further survived by two brothers; Matthew (Melissa) Leutik of Belvedere, IL and Michael (Cindy) Leutik of Glen Ellyn, IL, and three sisters Connie (Tom) Moug of Streamwood. IL, Holly Ross of Elmhurst, IL and Patrina Taylor in Tennessee.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother David Leutik. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter's name to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans ) Verdun Chapter # 33 would be appreciated as Peter was an avid supporter of the Disabled Veterans.
