Ramona G. Flugaur of Stevens Point died on July 22, 2024 at the age of 94. Ramona was born on October 22, 1929 in Stevens Point.
She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Johanna (Wroblewski) Sorenson. She attended St. Stephen's Grade School and graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1948.
Her marriage to Ronald Flugaur took place on August 26, 1950, at St. Stephen's Church in Stevens Point. After their marriage, the couple settled in Stevens Point. In 2020 they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with family and friends. Her husband, Ronald, survives.
Ramona, along with her husband, owned and operated Sorenson's Greenhouse and Floral for 36 years prior to selling it to their son, Gary, in 1992. Although Ramona worked at the greenhouse during the busy season, her true vocation was being a mom, grandma and great grandma. Her family was at the center of everything she did in life. She was happiest when spending time with family or providing childcare for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ramona was a fabulous cook and loved hosting her large family for all major holidays and other family celebrations.
She was an avid reader and always had a puzzle nearby. Ramona never missed a grandchild's sporting event, concert or fine arts performance. She loved long walks, fishing and spending time at the family cottages on Lake Emily and later on Tree Lake.
Ramona and Ron took great pleasure in traveling to Florida in the winter to live on Madeira Beach where they owned a seaside condominium. She treasured spending time with her brothers and sisters and their families, who lived in that area.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald; three daughters: Sharon Kalpinski, Susan (Gregory) Schulist, and Mary Flugaur; and three sons: Gary (Annette) Flugaur, Thomas Flugaur, and Rick (Lesa) Flugaur; 16 grandchildren: Robert Jr., Joel, Jenny, Brent, Jesse, Jill, Brianna, Brittney, Brandon, Kristin, Nicole, Kimberly, Alyssa, Ryan, Lindsey and Troy, as well as 22 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by two sisters, Shirley Crockett and Veronica (Verna) Brekke and two brothers, Ferdinand (Buddy) and James Sorenson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Anthony and Edith Flugaur, son-in-law, Robert Kalpinski, daughter-in-law, Sharon Flugaur, and one brother, Leonard (Tuffy) Sorenson, and four sisters; Virginia Wanta, Florence Filtz, Lucille (Joanie) Arnold and Sister Mary Blaise (Loretta Sorenson).
