Ramona M. Kizewski

October 11, 1931 — May 2, 2023

Plover

Ramona (Mona) M. Kizewski was beautifully and peacefully called to her Heavenly home on May 2, 2023 at the age of 91.  Her spirit continued to remain strong until her final breath on this earth, but her body wore out.

Mona was born on October 11, 1931, the daughter of Peter and Julia (Bella) Kawleski, in the town of Eau Pleine, Wisconsin.   She was the 8th born of ten children.  She grew up in the Town of Dewey and attended Wilson School.

Mona married Ervin Wasieleski on May 18, 1949.  That marriage ending in divorce.  She married Edward Kizewski in Las Vegas, NV, on March 8, 1979.  Edward passed away on April 11, 1989.

Mona's selfless love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was endless, and they were her greatest blessings in life. She is survived by her four children:  Irene (Dennis) Taves, Myron Wasieleski (special friend Judy Jurgella), Karen (Gerald) Walczak, and Kevin (Michelle) Wasieleski; her grandchildren, Tina (Scott) Wuske, Amy (Tim) Rigby, Carrie (Willis) Mish, Alex Walczak, Josh Wasieleski (special friend Krystal Obermeier), Jenna (Michael) Goldstein; and her great-grandchildren Hunter Rigby, Kaleb Rigby, Kiara Rigby, Hunter Mish and Austin Mish.

She is also survived by her sister, Cecelia Pionek and sister-in-law Bernice Kawleski, as well as her life-long friend, Phyllis Szymkowiak.

Mona was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Julia Kawleski, her siblings, Raymond Kawleski, Theresa Kieliszewski, Louis Kawleski, Clara Molski, Tillie Willing, Edmund (Slick) Kawleski, Lucille Grezenski, and Betty Turzinski.

Mona was a hard-working woman.  While single-handedly raising her children, she was a bar owner for many years, operating Mona's Bar in Plover.  She was also the manager of the Sentry Insurance Cafeteria in downtown Stevens Point.

Mona loved the Lord with all of her heart.  She attended St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover and was a member of the Rosary Society there.  Raising her children to know the Lord was important to her.

Mona was very active in her much-loved community of Plover.  She was president of the Golden Sands Senior Club for several years, where she gave countless hours of dedication to the club and was very successful in fund raising and coordinating many social events for the club.  She worked the voting polls in Plover and was a blood donor for many years.  She coordinated many local and cross-country bus tours with her favorite bus driver, Ray Waslo.  She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Mona leaves behind a legacy of caring for others.  Her fun, loving and generous nature was well-known by her friends and family.  She had an ear and heart for others and was often referred to as "my second mom" or "adopted Bushia" (Polish for grandma) to many throughout the years.  She gave the gift of special memories through the bus trips she arranged for seniors, giving gifts and treats for those on her trips.  She unselfishly shared with others even during the years she struggled to put food on her family's table.

Her famous and sincere "love yous" was said to so many people whom she truly loved!  She loved playing bingo, listening to her Polish polka and waltz music, as well as any music sung by Daniel O'Donnell.

Visitation will be held at Saint Bronislava Catholic Church, 3200 Plover Road, Plover, Wisconsin on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 9:30 AM, with a mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM. The Very Rev. Edward J. Shuttleworth will officiate the service.  Burial will follow at the Guardian Angel Cemetery in Stevens Point.   Pisarski Community Funeral Home of Plover is honored to be serving the family. The family is grateful to mom's "second family" at Whispering Pines Lodge in Plover for the true love & care that they showed her and our family.  No words can adequately express our deep gratitude for the love she received during her time at the Lodge.  The family would like to thank the staff of Interim Health Palliative Care and the doctors, nurses, and staff at Aspirus Hospital.

Mona lived by her strong faith and acceptance of life.  Her typical response to any adverse or difficult situation was an accepting "it is what it is" or a "flustrated" "whatever"!  To know and be loved by Mona was a true blessing. She was truly one of the strongest women many had the honor of loving!
