Richard (Dick) A Schubert of Stevens Point, passed away on June 11, 2023, surrounded by family at the age of 83.
Dick was born April 26th, 1940, in the Stevens Point, son of the late Ted and Ann (Roy) Schubert. He attended local schools and graduated from PJ Jacobs High school in Stevens Point.
Dick had a strong work ethic, instilling that value in his children. After high school he worked at American Motors in Kenosha, WI and then in 1961 started employment with Consolidated Papers, retiring in 2001. He dedicated over 40 years of service to the company.
Dick married Dorothy Eron on September 29, 1962 at St Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Mill Creek. They recently celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage.
Dick enjoyed fishing, trapping, and all types of hunting. He especially enjoyed deer and turkey hunting with his good friend Darrel Kinney. He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing with his son-in-law, Gary.
He and Dorothy spent many days with their dog Buddy at the family cabin on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage in Mercer, WI. Dick's happy place was just sitting on the dock, with a line out enjoying nature.
He took pride in their garden every year. He was proud of his tomatoes and flowers. When the Christmas season rolled around, he always took pride in having the best decorated live Christmas tree. Meticulously finding the right spot for every ornament.
His greatest treasure and joy of his life was his granddaughter Lauryn ("Munchkin"). He was so proud of her; always making sure to give her a "few" bucks for a treat before leaving to go back to school.
Dick was a man of faith; we know that he's in heaven now resting comfortably with his dog Buddy by his side along with all the other dogs who were such a special part of his life.
Dick is survived by his wife, Dorothy and his children Randy (Deb Rupar) Schubert, Renee (Gary) Kinney. Granddaughter, Lauryn Kinney, step granddaughters Daley and Shaeffer Rupar. Sister, Kathy (Brian) McCloud and the most caring brother in-laws and sister-in-laws, Raymond (Eleanor) Wiernik and Chester (Caroline) Wiernik and nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Ann Schubert.
A special thank you to Compassus Hospice for their care, especially Mary.
