Robert A. Gollon passed away on June 28, 2024, at home after a courageous nine-month battle with cancer. Bob was born in Stevens Point, WI, on October 10, 1956, to Anthony J. Gollon and Deloris M. (Serafin) Gollon. As a child, Bob lived with his family in Hurley, WI, Milwaukee, WI, and Stevens Point, WI, attending local schools and graduating from SPASH in 1975.
He entered the United States Air Force in October 1975 and was stationed at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX, Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS, and Little Rock AFB in Little Rock, AR, where he was a radar repairman. He was honorably discharged in October 1979. Bob earned a degree from Control Data Institute in Minneapolis, MN. Bob worked at various jobs locally until moving to Madison, WI, Sun Prairie, WI, and then Rio, WI. He was a supervisor at the Famous Footwear distribution center in Sun Prairie, WI, until it's closure. He then was a supervisor at Lakeside Foods, Poynette, WI.
Bob married Marg (Margaret Kramer) Jaskie on June 18, 1994. They later divorced. He married Melanie (Harris) Raley on July 10, 2010. They have 2 children, Tanner and Katie. Bob took great pride in being a parent and grandparent.
He is survived by his wife Melanie Harris-Gollon, children Tanner and Katie Gollon, five stepchildren and seven step-grandchildren, former spouse Marg Kramer, mother Deloris Gollon, sister Gail Gollon, brother Roger J. Gollon, DDS, and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Anthony J. Gollon, grandparents William and Helen (Stockfish) Serafin and Paul and Stella (Kowalewski) Gollon, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Bob was outgoing and made friends easily. He was a Packers and Badgers fan. He had an interest in aviation and knew how to fix almost anything. He was always willing to help people, sometimes to his detriment.
Bob's life changed drastically on April 9, 2023, when he suffered a major stroke. In late September 2023 Bob started having significant abdominal pain and was diagnosed in February 2024 with cancer. He was undergoing immunotherapy and chemotherapy, which seemed to be working.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses involved with his care at Aspirus Hospital in Stevens Point, Aspirus Hospital in Rhinelander, Froedtert Hospital (Dr. Gamblin) in Milwaukee, and Marshfield Clinic Cancer Center in Stevens Point (Dr. Onitilo, nurses Kari, Ashley, Allison, and Misty).
A Mass of Christian Burial for Bob will be held at St. Bronislava Catholic Church, 3200 Plover Road, Plover, WI, 54467 on Friday July 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund, memorial donations will be accepted for his children, Tanner and Katie, or a charity of your choice.
