Robert (Bob) J. Pallen

December 31, 1944 — July 29, 2024

Custer

Robert (Bob) J. Pallen, 79, of Custer, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly on Monday July 29, 2024, due to heart complications.

Bob was born December 31, 1944, in Polonia, Wisconsin to the late Joseph and Josephine (Check) Pallen. He attended a one room school house and later graduated from P.J. Jacobs Sr. High in 1963. He entered the United States Marine Corp in February 1964, until he was honorably discharged in February 1968. While in the service Bob served one year in Vietnam and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Expert Rifle Badge.

His marriage to Linda Turzinski took place on May 23, 1970 in Plover, Wisconsin. They settled in Stevens Point, Wisconsin where they raised their three children. Bob worked for the Portage County Sherriff's Department for 33 years where he worked his way up to Lieutenant Sheriff. Bob was a hardworking man who held many other jobs while on the force and after his retirement including building homes with Larry Ramczyk Custom Quality Homes.

In Bob's younger years he played softball for many teams including Willy's Bar and Moore Barn. He and his wife could dazzle a crowd with their Polka and line dancing skills and their waltz on roller skates. He enjoyed riding his Harley, especially on trips with his wife and good friends to different rallies. He and his wife spent many years participating in bowling leagues. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing, along with being an avid sports fan of the Brewers, Packers, and NASCAR, and he took pride in a well maintained lawn.

He was a chartered member of the Marine Corps League and a member of the VFW and Polish Legion of American Veterans. He was also on the Class of '63 Reunion Committee and was involved in planning the reunions for 60 years.

Bob's biggest joy in his life was spending time with his grandchildren. Whether it was watching them play ball, dance in recitals, going to school events, or just getting together for special occasions or holidays, they always brought a smile to his face.

Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda, and his children: Troy (Andrea) with their children Kendra and Troy (TJ), Amy Fox and her children Jackson, Nicole, and Brooklyn, and Todd (Sara) with their children Chandler, Delaney, and Kendall. He is also survived by his siblings: Diane (Ray) Delikowski, Joseph (Sharon), Clark (Betty), Darlene (Tom) Deckard, and Dawn (special friend, Bill) Pallen-Haynes. He is further survived by his brother-in-law James (Diane) Turzinski, sister-in-law Rita Turzinski and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bob was proceeded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law Irene Turzinski, his son-in-law Matthew Fox, and his in-laws: Ronald Turzinski, Delores (Leroy) Miller, and Robert "Bobby T" Turzinski.
