Roger J. Wrycza
Age 82 of Stevens Point passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards.
Roger was born September 14, 1939 in the Town of Sharon to the late Peter and Stella (Wanta) Wrycza.
Roger entered the United States Navy on January 21, 1957 in Chicago, IL. He served as a Yeoman 2 nd class on the U.S.S. Evans. He was honorably discharged on December 11, 1961.
His marriage to Patricia "Pat" Skinner took place on January 13, 1962 at St. Adalbert's Catholic Church in Rosholt. The couple settled in Milwaukee, later moving back to Portage County. Roger worked as a police officer in Milwaukee for fourteen years. Upon moving back to Portage County, he become the Chief of Police for Almond-Pine Grove community. In 1978 he was elected as the County Clerk of Portage County where he served for 28 years, retiring in 2007. He served on numerous boards and committees in Portage County.
In Lieu of flowers, a memorial in Roger's name will be established at a later date.
He was a member of the PLAV (Polish Legion of American Veterans)Post 185 in Polonia and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Stevens Point.
Survivors include his wife Pat of Stevens Point, one son Tom (Carla) Wrycza of Stevens Point, and one daughter Donna (Arnie) Kostka of Hatley. His grandchildren; Nicole (Kori) King, Caitlin (Max Gersh) Wrycza, Mollie (Ken) Dobbe and Alice King. Also survived by six great grandchildren; Brett Richter, Anna Richter, Kellen Ikert, Wesley King, Oliver King and Olivia Sawall.
Further survived by his two Brothers; Peter (Delores) Wrycza Jr., and James (Kathy) Wrycza along with many nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters Gladys Drewa, Geraldine Wierzba, Roseleen Pochinski and Cecelia Sanders an one Brother Robert Wrycza.
