Ronald J. Borski

October 25, 1940 — February 23, 2023

Amherst

Ronald was born on October 25, 1940, to Robert and Jean (King) Borski in Stevens Point, WI.

He was a 1958 graduate of P. J. Jacobs High School. While there, he enjoyed participating in sports especially as a member of the varsity football team. While in high school, he enlisted in the United States National Guard in March of 1956 (at just15 years old), and was sent to US Army boot camp at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri after his sophomore year of high school.  After high school he went to telegraph school in Minneapolis until Jan, 1959.

He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on February 13, 1959, and spent the next four years of his life serving his country.  Going thru boot camp at San Diego, he was awarded the "Recruit Series Honorman" and a set of "Dress Blues" (awarded to only one of 150 recruits).  He was sent to San Francisco for 6 months to basic electronics school and then sent back to San Diego for additional electronics schooling. He was retained as an instructor and spent the remainder of his time in San Diego. He was honorably discharged on February 12,1963 with the rank of E-4 Corporal. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Expert Rifle Marksmanship Badge all four years in the Corps.

Upon his return to Central Wisconsin from the Marine Corps, he worked at the Bake-Rite Baking Company until he started classes at UW-Stevens Point where he graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics/Physics (Engineering) in May 1968. He was hired at Manitowoc Engineering Company and worked there until 1972 when he began a 23-year employment at the Portage County Sheriff's Department as a Deputy and Sargent until he was elected Sheriff from 1993 to 1995. In retirement, he was a licensed Private Investigator, Portage County Supervisor for 10 years, Town of Stockton Board Member (Chairman for 9 years and oversaw the building of the Town Hall on 6 th Street) for 10 years and Tomorrow River (Amherst) School District Board Member for 6 years.

On June 4, 1966, he married Germaine (Rzentkowski) at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Fancher. Since the early 1970's Ronald and his family have also operated Rocking B Ranch where they raised chickens, beef and pigs.  He was very involved in the General Pipers 4-H club as a leader for over 20 years and a member of the Market Animal Committee.  At its peak they had over 100 beef cattle on their 100 acres.  Ronald and Germaine maintained a huge vegetable garden every summer even into their retirement.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife Germaine, sons: Brian (Dallas, Texas) and Jason (Plover); daughters: Lori (Plover) and Leigh Ann (Lee) Lehman (Amherst); and grandchildren: Olivia, Sydney and Charlie Lehman, Shannon and Avery Clark, Aubrey and Autumn Borski.  His siblings include Diane Mozuch (Stevens Point), David (Joan) Borski (Colorado Springs, CO), Barbara Kulich (Stevens Point) and Sharon Borski (Stevens Point), Sisters-in law: Leone Brantmeier (Menasha), Rita Demski (Amherst) and Diana Rzentkowski (Amherst).

He was an active member of the Central Wisconsin Marine Corps League #350 (where he served as Paymaster for over 30 years) the Moose Lodge #1572, American Legion Post 6 and the Arnott Lions Club (where he served as secretary for 27 years). He did have the privilege of participating in the "HONOR FLIGHT" to Washinton D. C. in June of 2022.

Ron had a strong love of God, family and Country.  He was a faithful servant to all three until his last day.  Ron appreciated the satisfaction of a hard day's work, the serenity of walking through the peaceful pastures with his cattle, and the taste of a cold Point Beer with friends.  He truly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren grow up and live their lives through their activities and sporting events over the past fifty years.  He was proud of all their accomplishments.

He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Borski, parents Robert and Jean Borski and brother Denny Borski; mother and father in law Regina and Julius Rzentkowski.
