Returning from overseas, Ron served in the 410th Signal Company in Stevens Point and Camp McCoy as a Lineman. He was honorably discharged in December, 1963.
He was a Mr. fix-it, do-it-yourself guy and a jack-of-all trades. He enjoyed remodeling projects, gardening, woodworking, traveling and camping. You could often spot Ron's 1969 green Chevrolet pick-up truck at St. Joseph's Church where he volunteered his talents. Ron was on the Building & Grounds Committee for over 50 years.
He and his wife chaired the annual parish picnic for over 30 years and they organized the parish senior bus trips. Ron made all of the kid's games, picnic tables, benches, and band stage as well as food and beer stands for the parish. He was most proud of his family and all of their accomplishments. He especially loved sharing time and activities with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
