Roy Allen Churchill, 79 of Plover died peacefully with his wife and daughter at his side on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Tomah VA Medical Center.
Funeral Service for Roy will be held at 11:00a.m. on Saturday November 23, 2024, at Pisarski Community Funeral Home 2911 Plover Road Plover. Visitation on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Full military honors will follow the service.
Roy was born on March 13, 1945, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada to Lloyd and Betty (Drake) Churchill. After his education, he enlisted in the US Navy and was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served honorably as an Electrician's Mate Third Class from April 1965 until his Honorable Discharge in April of 1969. For his service, he was awarded the National Service Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon.
Roy worked as a manager for Union 76 for several years following his Naval service and then moved to Junction City in 1980 and became the owner/operator of the Showboat Tavern for over 20 years.
He loved nature and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also was an active member of several wildlife conservation organizations, including Ducks Unlimited and Salmon Unlimited. He enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and UW Stevens Point Hockey, and also loved spending hours playing Cribbage, Canasta, and Dice with friends.
He was united in marriage to Judy A. Beranek on June 12, 1982.
Besides his wife, Judy, he is survived by his brother Ron (JaneAnn) Churchill of Chatham, Ontario, sister Barbara (Jean-Guy) Rutt of Elliot Lake, Ontario, son Christopher (Laura) Churchill of San Diego, CA, daughter Carie (Aaron) Tilling of McHenry, IL, and beloved grandchildren Joshua and Rebecca Tilling and Elizabeth and Katherine Churchill.
Roy was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister Sheri Lynn.
He will be missed greatly by his wife, family, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Parkinson's research.
