Samara Zelinski

Samara Marie Mathison Zelinski of Junction City, WI passed away unexpectedly  August 17,  2021. She was 25 years old.  Samara was born November 2, 1995 in Stevens Point, WI to her parents Kenneth and Jane Zelinski.  She was a 2014 graduate of Stevens Point Area Senior High School.  She attended classes at Mid-State Technical Institute. She also completed the WI Department of Corrections Training Program in November 2019.

As a youth, she played softball with the Steven Point Girls Fastpitch Assn . and played football and girls' basketball at Ben Franklin Jr High. Later at SPASH she was a manager for the Varsity football team for 3 years. Samara was named 2013 Homecoming Queen. After graduating she became a member of the Stevens Point Ultimate Frisbee Assn. (SPUFA)

Samara loved riding her motorcycle whenever she could, collecting pineapple themed home decor, getting tattoos and spending time with her beloved dog Cookie,  who she referred to as her "soul mate dog".

Samara always had a smile on her face and a sparkle in her eyes.  She was always welcoming and friendly to whomever she met regardless of who they were. She often complimented people even if it was someone she just met. She wanted them to feel good about themselves.  She also would go out of her way to help a friend even if it meant getting out of bed at 2:00 am to give a ride to someone who was stranded.  Much to her mother's worry,  Samara had a tendency to help stranded motorists and total strangers wandering in parking lots or stores.  Basically, anyone that appeared to need assistance.

Samara is survived by her mother Jane Zelinski, her brother Walker Zelinski and half-sister Candis Schneider.  Grandparents, Chet and Esther ZelinskI and Bernice Zakrzewski. She is survived by 3 nieces and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father Kenneth Zelinski and Grandfather Richard Zakrzewski.

Over the years Samara fought a battle with anxiety and depression.  Life gave her setbacks and road blocks yet she was always able to fight back and persevere but, in the end, it became too much and it broke her spirit, her laugh and her sparkle.

Samara was a beautiful, compassionate and outspoken person, she will be greatly missed by those who loved her and knew her.

A Celebration of Samara's Life will be held at the Pisarski Funeral Home, 703 Second Street, Stevens Point from 4:00PM – 7:00PM, on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 with a time of Sharing at 7:00PM.
