Sharon Mae (O'Keefe) Cychosz of Rosholt was reunited with the love of her life when she was called to heaven Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau after a courageous battle with cancers.
Age 71, Sherry was born August 3, 1950 in Stevens Point, WI. She was the daughter of Miriam (Hetzel) and the late Neal O'Keefe of Almond, WI. Sherry was a 1968 graduate of Almond High School.
She married Chester L. Cychosz on July 9, 1970 in Stevens Point. After their marriage they settled in Stevens Point before moving their family to Rosholt ten years later. Sherry learned of the locals while be employed at the Hardware store, Gene's IGA and with her most recent employment at Community First Bank for 24 years in Rosholt as a Loan Support Specialist.
Sherry lived every day for her family and friends. Spending countless hours on the bleachers cheering on her Cychosz boys in all their activities from high school to recreational leagues. With that passion, she adopted all their teammates as one of her own eventually graduating to the title of "Grandma Sherry." It was no secret Sherry adored children. Also known as "Aunt Honey" to all her nieces and nephews she held all their conversations and accomplishments close to her heart. While Sherry was little in height (and would always remind you of her Irish fighting spirit) it was the pleasure when the kids in the family would finally "pass her up." With the recent addition of her granddaughter Rylan her hope was to one day be strong enough to play in the yard with her as she had done with her grandson Isaac for so many years. To any kids that came into the bank she always had a fruit snack ready from her secret drawer and so the parents wouldn't feel left out she typically engaged in her witty banter to make everyone feel welcome.
An independent lady of almost 30 years, her final days of relying on others was never her wishes. The Lord above recognized that and called her home far too quick or those of us left behind, but to be reunited with her husband is the comfort the family is carrying. Together again with the best seats in the house, Chet and Sherry will be smiling down on the friends that have crossed their paths and guarding their world with the strength that only parents and angels can have.
Survivors include her two sons: Shawn (Wendy) of Rosholt, and their son Isaac, and Scott (Kendra) of Rosholt and their daughter Rylan. Further survived by her mother Miriam O'Keefe of Almond, WI, one brother Jim (Gail) O'Keefe of Waupaca and their children Tim O'Keefe, Pete O'Keefe, Shelley (Jason) Swanson and John (Stephanie) O'Keefe. One sister Joan (Ted) Schlafke of Stevens Point and their children Ted (Jenna) and Jessa. Sherry was preceded in death by her grandparents Arleigh and Mae Hetzel, Raymond and Opal O'Keefe, father Neal and husband Chet.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Katy and the entire staff of Marshfield Cancer Center for the heartfelt care Sherry received the past 2.5 years. Your smiles and encouraging words will always be remembered. A considerate thank you to special friends Deb Lemke, Michelle Larson and Jeanie Krogwold for being her constants through all the years. Also thank you to Tracy Kulas for being so available and resourceful.
The family requests in order to protect those at higher risk that you please wear a mask. If you are unable to for medical reasons, we understand.
