Sister Lucy Bruskiewicz

Sister Lucy Bruskiewicz, age 85, a Sister of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis for 66 years, died March 28, 2022, at Regina Health Care Center in Richfield, OH.  Sister Lucy was born November 16, 1936 to the late Casimir and Pauline (Lepak) Bruskiewicz of Hofa Park, Seymour, WI.

She attended St. Stanislaus School of Hofa Park and Pulaski High School.  On August 10, 1956, she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis, professing her final vows on August 10, 1963.

Sister Lucy earned a BS Degree in Education from St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI.  She ministered as an educator in Milwaukee at St. Adalbert and Blessed Sacrament Parishes, at St. Peter's in Stevens Point, St. Mary of Mt. Carmel, Fancher, Amherst, WI, Holy rosary, Owen, WI, St. Bridget, River Falls, Arcadia Catholic Schools, Arcadia, WI, Holy Name School in Sheboygan, WI, and St. Louis in Fond du Lac, WI.  Sister Lucy than became a Rehabilitator Counselor and ministered in the Cooperating Community Program in St. Paul, MN from 1984 until 2003.  After her sabbatical in 2003, she became a therapeutic massage therapist and volunteer with women in transition until her retirement in 2017.

Sister moved to Marymount Congregational Home, Garfield Heights, OH, in 2019 and then to Regina Health Care Center in Ohio, January 2021 where she passed away, March 28 ^th .

Sister Lucy is survived by her sisters Celia Smurawa, Dorothy Van Den Heuvel, Elizabeth Boyer, brothers, Daniel and Stanley, nieces, nephews, friends, and The Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Casimir and Pauline (Lepak), brother Leo, and sisters Mary and Agnes.

Funeral services will be held with a Mass of Christian Burial at Marymount Congregational Home, Garfield Heights, OH on April 2, 2022.  At the wishes of the family there will be a private prayer service in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and burial at The St Joseph Cemetery for Sister Lucy.
