Sister Patrice Schulist

Sister Patrice Schulist, age 89, a Sister of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis for 71 years, died on June 8, 2023, at North Ridge Care Center in Stevens Point, WI.  Sister Patrice was born on January 29, 1934, to the late Matthew and Clara (Brychel) Schulist.

Sister entered the community from Sacred Heart Parish in Polonia.  She attended St. Joseph's Academy and entered the congregation after her high school graduation. Sister Patrice was invested in 1952, taking her final vows on August 10, 1960.

Sister Patrice earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from St. Norbert College, De Pere, WI, and a provisional certificate from the Diocese of Green Bay. She served as a teacher throughout Wisconsin, specifically in Milwaukee, Oshkosh, Krakow, Rosholt, and Custer. Retiring from her years of teaching, Sister Patrice continued ministry as a parish visitor to the sick and elderly at Sacred Heart Parish in Custer. Sister officially retired from ministry in 2019, returning to the Motherhouse and shortly after became a hospice resident, most recently to North Ridge-Copperleaf Senior Care in Stevens Point, WI. She also cleaned the parish rectory and did the laundry to perfection.

Sister is survived by her sister Pat and (Antone) Dobrauc her sisters-in-law Rita (Wrobleski) Schulist and Joan (Van Blerk) Schulist.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Ben and Gertie (Wrobleski); Tony Schulist; Dominic and Evelyn (Knitter); Joe Schulist; sisters, Mary and (Ray)/(Edmond) Gabor, Ann and (Robert) Omernik and; Harriet and (Francis) Wysocki.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Holy Spirit Parish in Stevens Point, WI.  Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 a.m., with the Mass of Christian Burial following.  Sister will be laid to rest at St. Jospeh Sisters Cemetery
