Sophie Koziczkowski, Stevens Point, passed away at her home surrounded by her children on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at the age of 95. She was born on May 15, 1926, the daughter of David and Lucy (Rybicki) Omernik. She grew up in Rosholt, attended local schools there and worked as a telephone operator in her early years.
Her marriage to Henry Koziczkowski took place on November 25, 1944, at St. Adalbert's Church in Rosholt. Henry preceded her in death on December 27, 1994, the same year they celebrated their 50 th wedding anniversary.
Sophie and Henry settled with their family in Stevens Point and were members of St. Stanislaus Church. Sophie was a member of the Rosary Society and was recognized as a 50-year Jubilarian, Rose 3 in 2016. When Henry retired, they moved to Amherst Junction on a hobby farm until his death. They then joined Sacred Heart Parish in Polonia. Sophie was a Rosary Society member at Sacred Heart, recently being noted for 25 years with Rose 12.
Sophie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and spending time making her yard look beautiful. She loved to bake and cook and have treats available for anyone who visited. Her best times were spending cherished time with her children, loved ones and friends. She always looked forward to family gatherings and visits, especially on Sundays. She was thankful to her daughters who took turns staying with her on weeknights and weekends to care for her so she could continue to live at home.
Devoted in her faith, she loved to go to daily Masses until she became homebound and then relied on EWTN to watch Masses. She was grateful for all the friendships she made at church, especially at St. Mary's Parish, Torun.
Sophie was a kind, generous and thoughtful woman and a joy to all those who knew her. Her children were especially proud of her independence and strength. We will forever miss her prayerful heart, her humor, advice and wisdom.
Sophie is survived by her seven children, David (Marcie), Ron (Sandy), Marie Kluck, Jan (Randy) Kruzicki, Myron (Terri), Debbie (Arnie) Kaminski and Lori Stoltz. Sophie leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She is further survived by her sister, Marge Ostrowski; sister-in-laws, Mary Koziczkowski and Lorraine Studinski and many godchildren, nieces and nephews.
Sophie is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two son-in-laws, Robert Kluck and Gary Stoltz; her grandson, Jeff Koziczkowski; her sisters Mary Schmidt and Vicki Tuskowski; her brother Joseph Omernik; and many beloved family members who have passed away.
