Sister Veronette (Bernadine) Pieczynski, age 95, a Sister of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis for 75 years, died on January 26, 2022, at Willow Brook in Stevens Point, WI.
Sister Veronette was born on August 15, 1926, in Stevens Point, to the late Peter and Elizabeth (Woloszek) Pieczynski.
She attended St. Peter Parish School and St. Joseph Academy. After her high school graduation, Veronette entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis on December 8, 1946. On August 5, 1947, she was received into the novitiate and professed her final vows on August 10, 1954.
Sister Veronette earned her B.S. in Education degree from St. Norbert College, De Pere, WI. Her teaching career spanned nearly forty years with her ministry of teaching predominantly in grades 2-3-4 in schools throughout Wisconsin: St. John, Menasha; St. Mary's, Green Bay; Blessed Sacrament, Milwaukee; St. Adalbert, Milwaukee; St. Josaphat, Oshkosh; SS Peter & Paul, Independence; St. Paul, Milwaukee; St. Matthew, Wausau; St. Bridget, River Falls; St. Stanislaus and St. Peter, Stevens Point. Her last assignment was back at the school in which she began, St. John, Menasha.
Sister Veronette retired to St. Joseph Motherhouse in 1988 where she provided support services in the home and joined the other Sisters in prayer ministry. In 2017, Sister was moved to the Willow Brook Senior Care facility for her continued health care.
Sister Veronette was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Elizabeth, and brothers Conrad, Jerome, and James. She is survived by her sister, Lorraine Przybylski of Stevens Point.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Holy Spirit Parish in Stevens Point at 10:30 a.m. with a visitation taking place at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Rev. Todd Mlsna will officiate the service. Burial will be in St. Joseph Convent cemetery. Pisarski Funeral Home is Honored to be serving the Sisters.
