Stanley B. Cychosz
Of Stevens Point, died early Thursday morning, September 16, 2021 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI.
Age 97 Stanley was born May 12, 1924 in Stevens Point. He was the son of the late Charles and Minnie (Landowski) Cychosz. He attended local grade schools and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School. Stanley entered the United States Army on March 25, 1943 at Ft. Sheridan, IL. He served with Company E 507 th Parachute Infantry as a paratrooper 7745 and Rifle and Carbine Expert. He received the WWII Victory Medal, American Theatre Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on January 15, 1946 from Service and Shick General Hospital in Clinton, IA.
His marriage to Cordelia Dzikoski took place on August 31, 1946 in Stevens Point. His wife preceded him in death on November 3, 2018. Stanley worked for the United States Post Office for over 30 years retiring in 1999.
He was a member of the Berens-Scribner American Legion Post 6 of Stevens Point for over 50 years, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 30. In his free time Stanley loved hunting and fishing and loved the outdoors. Stanley was chosen to go on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C in 2014, which he considered it an honor.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Stanley's name for the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King.
Survivors include his six children; Mary (Pat) Clifford Chandler, AZ., Terry Cyan (special friend Diana) Thornton, CO., Thomas (Marilyn) Cychosz of Stevens Point, Tim Cychosz (special friend Sandy) of Waunakee, WI., Roy (Kay) Cychosz of Stevens Point and Andy (Sandy) Cychosz of Mosinee, WI. Further survived by 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, two sisters; Loretta (Lori) Bannach of Milwaukee, WI. and Agnes Katzmark of Stevens Point, two brothers-in-law Eugene (Sylvia) Dzikoski of Madison, WI and Ron Kennedy of Appleton.
Stanley was preceded in death by his wife Cordelia, his brother Chester Cychosz, three sisters; Irene Omernik, Sophie Kennedy and Lucy Cychosz. Two sisters-in-law Mickey Cychosz and Betty Zakrzewski-Niekamp, and five brothers-in-law Ed Omernik, Fred Bannach, Bernie Zakrzewski and Paul Niekamp, Dave Katzmark.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M, Thursday September 23, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Rev. Dennis Lynch officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. Thursday morning at the Family Parish Center of Holy Spirit Church.
