Stephen A. Knudsen, 68, passed away peacefully at his home on August 21,
2024 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
Born on April 18, 1956 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Svend and Birgit
Knudsen, Steve and his sister Eva spent their early years in Manhattan, NYC
later moving to Queens, NY to live with Jim and Margaret Magowan and their
children. He received his Bachelor of Science from Princeton University and his
Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison. Steve was an
academic staff member in the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point KEEP
Program where he met the love of his life, Claire Henriksen-Knudsen who he
married in 2006.
They shared a love for music, the environment, and their
Scandinavian culture. Steve was a math and science teacher at Wausau
Newman Catholic High School, transferring to Pacelli Catholic High School in
Stevens Point in 2022.
Steve was a devoted husband and father to his three children. He was always
there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement to family, friends, and
students. He had a great sense of humor and was always eager to share his
knowledge and enthusiasm for education with others.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Claire, his step-children, Hannah Garcia
(Sarwang Parikh) Noah Garcia and Ome Garcia; his sister, Eva Knudsen along
with his Magowan siblings, Jim Magowan (Eleanor), Patricia Magowan Rudikoff
(Neal), and R. Daniel Magowan (Kirsten), and many nieces and nephews.
His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life memorial will be held at a future date.
