Thomas "Tom" Everett Schmenk 73, of Custer, WI passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, at Aspirus St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point. He was born October 2, 1948, in Lima, Ohio to the late Everett and Margaret (Brinkman) Schmenk. On May 4, 1987 he married Linda Stashek in Las Vegas.  After their marriage, the couple lived in Milwaukee and other communities before settling in the Stevens Point area in 1998.  His wife Linda survives.

Other survivors include eight children: Jonathan (Angela) Schmenk of River Falls, Gretchen (Chris) Niedbalski of Wisconsin Rapids, Adam (Chelsey) Schmenk of Carmel, Indiana, Elli Swanson of Stevens Point, Christina (Caleb) Cordy of Custer, Alexander (Kayla) Schmenk of Junction City, Dillon (Trisha) Schmenk of Plover, Colin (girlfriend Nicole) Schmenk of De Pere; fifteen grandchildren: Isabel, Theodore, Anna, Jacob, Joshua, Henry, Vivian, Raeana, Caleb, Elsie, Benjamin, Lincoln, Holden, Giuliana, Sydney, and a future grandchild due in August.  Further survived by sister Judith McCurdy of Ada, Ohio, sister-in-law Mary Schmenk of Ottawa, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both his parents; his brothers, Donald (Jane) Schmenk and Robert (Sue) Schmenk; a sister, Rose Ann (Ken) Giesken; and a brother-in-law, Gary McCurdy.

Tom graduated from Ottawa-Glandorf High School in Ottawa, Ohio, class of 1966.  After brief stints at Notre Dame and Defiance College, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Business with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point in 1983.  He worked in the insurance industry all his life for various insurance companies until his retirement in 2010.  Tom had many passions throughout his life such as playing guitar, singing in a barbershop chorus, debating politics, and sketching his famous "SchmenkieDoodles."  In his free time he enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers (especially the Wisconsin v. Ohio State rivalry), keeping his yard landscaped, and playing cards.  He was instrumental in creating the Ugly Undulating Uvulas (UUUs) trivia team in 1980 which over 40 years later still brings his family together every spring.  His most precious time was spent with his family, especially the grandkids.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 2022 at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Custer. Rev. Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church until the time for mass. The Pisarski Community Funeral Home of Plover is honored to be serving the family.
