On January 28, 2022 the heavens opened up and welcomed Trent Westphal home after an extensive battle with MS and Parkinson's for over 10 years. Trent faced each challenge bravely and with independence.
Trent Allen Westphal was born April 4 th , 1966 to Glen and Carol (Wendt) Westphal. Trent grew up in New Berlin with a twin brother Troy and a younger sister Tara. The boys were known as Truck and Tractor and also as The Bucks. He graduated from Eisenhower High in 1984 and went on to Moraine Park Technical College obtaining an Associate Degree in Wastewater Treatment.
As the sun set on July 14th, 1994 Trent married the love of his life Myra at Rainbow Falls. Together they set upon a life of devotion to one another and to the well-being and welfare of creatures great and small, but they shared a particular fondness for dogs. Throughout their marriage they devoted over 30 years to animal rescue including fostering, rehab and transporting hundreds of dogs. His generous spirit giving in service to others.
Trent spent a great deal of his life in service to his community. He had a 19 year career with the Plover Fire Department, and a 20 year career as a Waste Water Treatment Operator for the Village of Plover. Truly devoting his life to the safety, health and well-being of his community. When he found time for himself you would find him in his workshop building and creating with the skill of a true craftsman with his talents as a woodworker.
Trent and Myra shared many adventures travelling to dog shows as hard working entrepreneurs, where Trent also competed with Pyro in agility. Their canine kids Nikki, Shelby, Pyro, Flip, Joy and Surf filled their hearts with joy. Trent lived every moment of his life treasuring the small moments for he knew the secret; it is life's small moments that are the most meaningful and memorable.
Trent was an avid sportsmen deeply connected to nature. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and convening with Mother Nature as much as he could. As MS and Parkinson's stole some of his mobility he began a quest to feed the smaller woodland creatures and record their acrobatic antics to share with the world on social media, bringing joy and contentment not only to himself but giving each of his friends a little spark of joy to brighten everyone's days.
Trent's final gift of service was to donate his body to science so that research could be studied on this rare phenomena in the hope his donation can be a stepping stone towards a future cure and new treatments for others afflicted with these two diseases.
Trent is survived by his loving wife Myra, his K-9 kids Flip, Joy and Surf, his parents Glenn and Carol (Wendt) Westphal, brother Troy (Julie) Westphal, sister Tara (Michael) Atkinson, nieces Isabel Aguilo and Pamela Westphal, and many friends.
Nikki, Pyro and Shelby are waiting at the gates of heaven to welcome him.
The family would like to thank Moments Hospice, RN Christine and the staff and management at Care Partners Assisted Living Facility for the love, support and care they showed Trent.
