Valerian "Val" S. Blaskey

Valerian "Val" Sylvian Blaskey, age 99 of Custer, WI died on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at his home under the care of family, friends and Compassus Hospice.

He was born on January 23, 1925 in Amherst Junction to Joseph and Constance (Kluck) Blaskey.  He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School.  Val worked at Sentry Insurance from 1952 to his retirement in1985 where he finished his career as a Senior Computer Shift Manager.  Val met the love of his life, Jeanette, while working at Sentry.  Val and Jeanette Wanserski were married on July 23, 1960 in Polonia, WI at Sacred Heart Church and were forever inseparable.  The couple resided in several homes in the area, but eventually built their forever home and set roots in Custer, WI just a short distance to Sacred Heart Church.  The couple were very active with their church and they never missed a weekend mass!  Val played a pivotal role in contributing towards many improvement projects for his parish over the years and for the future generations.

Val enjoyed his time canning, baking and cooking.  His home-made salsa will be forever missed!  He loved to pick berries and tend to his garden.  Val enjoyed visiting with relatives and friends.  He was always on the go and full of energy with a very bright outlook on life.  He delivered his home-made bread and meals to others in need every week.  In his younger years, he loved playing baseball and fishing.  Val also played trumpet.  Val and Jeanette enjoyed traveling and taking trips across the country.

Val is survived by his sister Joan Raikowski, of Rudolph, several godchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Val was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette, his parents, and many brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia. Rev. Jerzy Rebacz will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of services Tuesday morning at the Church. A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 AM Tuesday at the Church. A celebration meal will follow the funeral service.  Pisarski Funeral Homes are honored to be serving the family.
