Virginia Mary (Krutza) McCarthy, 97, of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at her home on March 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 23, 1928, in Stevens Point, WI, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bridget Liebe and the sister to 15 siblings.
In 1948, Virginia married Richard A. Krutza, and together they had ten children but later divorced. Marge (Barry) Fecteau of Plover, WI, Ruth (Lindy) Foote of Neenah, WI, Kenneth Krutza ( previously of Belvidere, IL), Bonnie (Gilbert) Janowski-Trevino of Rockford, IL, Randy (Linda) Krutza of Belvidere, IL, Jeff (Debbie) Krutza of Belvidere, IL, Tim (Leanne) Krutza of Plover, WI, Rusty (Cassy) Krutza of Stevens Point, WI, Jackie Krutza of Stevens Point, WI, Jodi Krutza (Duane Berg) of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
Virginia later married Donald H. McCarthy in 1990.
A woman of unwavering dedication, Virginia worked tirelessly and made countless sacrifices to ensure her children never went without. Her selflessness and commitment to her family's well-being were evident in every aspect of her life. Her family was her greatest pride and joy.
Professionally, Virginia began as a waitress and later owned a cafe where she developed a love for connecting with people. In partnership with her sister, she co-owned Virg n Mary's Tavern, creating a welcoming space for the community. Her cleaning services allowed her to meet many wonderful individuals who became like family.
Virginia had a deep passion for her backyard and was often found outdoors enjoying God's creations. She enjoyed casino visits and playing word games with her children, always bringing her sharp wit and sense of humor to every interaction. A woman of strong faith, Virginia was dedicated to daily prayers, saying her rosary, and watching church masses. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and an active member of St. Anne's Society. Virginia found great joy in helping others through charitable contributions and acts of kindness.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her 15 siblings, her husband Donald, her son Kenneth, and three grandchildren. She is survived by her nine children, 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established at a later date. The family extends a special thank you to Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care. Virginia's legacy of love, faith, and community will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia will be held on Thursday March 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church 1709 Wyatt Ave, Stevens Point. Rev Jeffrey Hennes will officiate. Burial will take place in the St. Joseph Parish Cemetery. Visitation on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
