Walter J. Okray Jr.

Walter J. Okray Jr passed away peacefully on January 11, 2022, after suffering a stroke and finally succumbing to pneumonia.

Walter was born on July 9, 1950, to the late Walter Okray Sr and Gladys (Zimney) Okray, the fourth of six children. Walter attended Jefferson School, St. Joseph's Elementary and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1968. After High School, he attended Mid-State Technical Institute for his HVAC Certification and later earned his designer license.

Walter's talents in heating and air conditioning led him to a lifelong career at Kleenaire Corporation "World Headquarters". Early in life, Walter loved playing the electric bass guitar and was a member of several bands that played in the greater Stevens Point and Wausau area.

Walter loved cooking, trout fishing, annual deer hunting with his cousins and loved hosting the Kleenaire Christmas Party for customers, relatives and friends.

Walter was very competitive playing cards with his wife and grandchildren and loved watching the July 4th fireworks with them every year. Mostly, he enjoyed drinking a Point Beer in the summer on his deck where he could watch the birds and animals in the yard with his dog Abby.

Joan Meshak became his lifelong partner on July 10, 1968, they were married for 53 years.

Walter is survived by his wife Joan, daughter Lisa (Vladimir) Grubac, grandchildren Daniel and Mia.

He is also survived by his siblings Mary Ann (Algis) Seskus, Dr. Barbara Hall, Paula Okray-Kalke, Thomas Okray, Phillip (Vicki) Okray, Sister- in- law Ann Meshak and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Gladys Okray, In laws Emil and Lucy Meshak, Brother- in- law Randy Meshak, Sister- in- law Kathy (Pete) Meshak, Brother- in- law Ed Kalke and Niece Sara Fisher.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the Aspirus Hospital Wausau staff for the

outstanding care and compassion that he received.

A Service will be held at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home, 2911 Plover Rd, Plover, at 1:00PM on Saturday, April 23, 2022.

Family and friends are invited to a Visitation at the Funeral Home from 11:00AM until the time of the Service.

Private family burial will be at a later date in Guardian Angel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Walter's name at a later date.
