Wayne W. Johnson, born February 29, 1932 in Rockford, Illinois to Milton O. Johnson and Evelyn (Fowler) Johnson died on August 8, 2022, surrounded by his daughters.

Wayne joyfully celebrated every leap year birthday while his children and grandchildren delighted when they surpassed him in number of birthdays.

He married Dorothy Hultgren on May 8, 1954.

Wayne was an original partner of Seigfreid Johnson, AIA. The firm was the architect for CherryVale Mall in Cherry Valley, Illinois; won awards for their development of scattered housing units for HUD; and oversaw numerous other projects in the upper Midwest. He served as 1980 president of the Illinois Council of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

Wayne and Dorothy relocated to Henderson, NV in 1988 until Dorothy's passing in 2007. While in Henderson, Wayne was employed as architect/ chief plans examiner from 1990 to 2001.

He loved a good martini, building model airplanes and regaling folks with "shaggy dog" stories.

He is survived by his daughters: Kate (Charles McConkie) Reck, Custer WI; Tami (Dave) Richmond, Hayward, WI; and Becca (Craig) Paulsen, San Clemente, CA.

He was loving grandfather to Maia, Laura, Grace, David, Cameron, Kyle, Pace and Matti; loving great grandfather to Christian and Declan.

He is further survived by his sister Melissa Johnson, Rockford, IL, and nephews and nieces.

In addition to his wife Dorothy, he was predeceased by his parents; son Michael in 2004; sister Patsy in 2020; and longtime companion, Jean Tiggeman.

A private celebration will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation in his name to Special Olympics of Wisconsin or St. Jude's Research Center.
