In Loving Memory of Adam Douglas Wirtz September 1, 1985 – May 18, 2026 With profound sadness and immeasurable love, we share the passing of Adam Douglas Wirtz, a man whose kindness, faith, and gentle strength shaped every life he touched. Born on September 1, 1985, Adam grew into the kind of person who made the world feel lighter simply by being in it.

Adam graduated from Marshfield High School in 2004, where he formed lifelong friendships and first discovered his passion for helping others. He continued his education at Concordia University in Mequon, earning his undergraduate degree in 2008, and went on to complete his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at UW–La Crosse in 2011. His calling was clear from the beginning—Adam was made to heal, to encourage, and to lift people up.

He lived that calling every day as the Director at Advanced Physical Therapy in Iola, WI, and as a weekend physical therapist at Aspirus Stevens Point. His patients adored him—not just because he was skilled, but because he listened, he cared, and he treated every person with dignity and compassion. Physical therapy wasn’t just a job to Adam; it was a ministry of kindness.

On May 23, 2015, Adam married the love of his life, Rachel (Schelvan), at St. Paul Lutheran Church—the same place they first met, worshipped, and built their foundation of faith. Their marriage was a partnership filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering devotion. Together, they explored the world, especially the turquoise waters of the Caribbean and the French Polynesian islands. Bora Bora held a special place in Adam’s heart; he returned twice, always eager to swim with sharks, snorkel among vibrant reefs, and soak in the beauty of God’s creation.

Adam was a proud and devoted father to his four boys—Tanner, Tristan, Ty, and Caleb. He was their coach, their teacher, their biggest fan, and their everyday hero. Whether he was on the baseball diamond, the soccer field, or simply splashing in the pool on a warm weekend afternoon, Adam showed his sons what it meant to be patient, joyful, and strong in faith. He lived his values openly, modeling humility, generosity, and love in every interaction.

His faith was the steady center of his life. At St. Paul Lutheran Church, Adam served as a lay minister, Sunday school teacher, and usher. He didn’t just attend church—he embodied it. His quiet leadership, gentle humor, and willingness to serve made him a beloved presence in the congregation.

Adam’s interests were as wide ranging as his heart was big. He was an avid fantasy football player, a lover of nearly every sport, a golfer, a fisherman, and a dedicated hunter who cherished the annual tradition of heading into the woods with his dad and brothers. Some of the best memories were made around the campfire at night or during long summer days in the pool—simple moments that became treasured ones.

He is survived by his loving parents, Doug and Joy Wirtz, who raised him with deep faith and strong values; his siblings Ben Wirtz, Julie Mitchell, and Luke Wirtz, who shared countless adventures, hunting trips, and family traditions with him; his wife Rachel, who was his soulmate and best friend; and his four sons, who will carry his spirit forward in the way they live, love, and lead.

Adam was the kindest and most caring man—steady, humble, and full of grace. He gave more than he took, loved without hesitation, and left every person better than he found them. His legacy is one of faith in action, compassion in motion, and love that endures.

Though our hearts are broken, we give thanks for the gift of his life and the countless ways he blessed those around him. Adam’s story does not end here; it continues in the lives he touched, the family he adored, and the faith he lived so beautifully. We love you Adam so much. You will be forever missed and in our hearts.

Funeral services for Adam will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 1919 Wyatt Ave, Stevens Point. The service will be led by Pastor Joshua Baumann. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Pisarski Funeral Home, 703 Second Street, Stevens Point. The visitation will resume on Friday at the church from 12:00 PM until time of service. Burial will follow in the Saint Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
