Alois "Bud" Ceplina:

Alois Frank "Bud" Ceplina, age 84, of Stevens Point, WI entered his Heavenly home on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 after a long battle with Mesothelioma.

Bud was born on Oct. 21, 1925 in Stevens Point to Ted and Regina (Cooper) Ceplina.

He entered the U.S. Navy on Jan. 29, 1944 in Stevens Point. He served as a Seaman First Class and received the Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Star and the Letter of Commendation. He was honorably discharged on May 11, 1946 in Great Lakes, IL.

He was married in 1957 to Harriet Zblewski and the couple later divorced. Bud worked as a bricklayer from 1940s to the 1960s, then continued on with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Bud thoroughly enjoyed traveling every year to reunite with his Navy buddies. He loved to travel, his last trip being to Alaska, "just because he had never been & wanted to see the place." He enjoyed walking, frequent outings with his buddy, Chick, to count deer, eating at "The Moose Lodge," long drives and watching the Packers play.

Bud is survived by two sons: Randy (Kim) Ceplina of Lubbock, TX and Rick Ceplina of Stevens Point. One Sister: Dorothy Pawlowski of Stevens Point. 4 Grandchildren: Randi Ceplina of Gatesville, TX, Scott & Melissa Ceplina of Stevens Point and Ted Ceplina of Chicago. Several very dear friends: Mark & Inne, Chick, Pete, Frank, Jill, Pete & Hank and Diane; and his special little four-legged friend: "his Grand puppy, Gizmo."

He was preceded in death by 2 sons: Dale Ceplina in 2007 and Michael Ceplina in 1997, his parents, 2 sisters and one brother.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church, Rev. Kevin C. Louis Officiating. Burial in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation from 9:00 AM until the time of services Wednesday morning in the St. Faustina Room at St. Peter Church.
