Anton "Tony" J. Gagas:
age 79, of Stevens Point, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield after a long, courageous battle with prostate cancer.
Tony was born on July 27, 1933 in the Town of Sharon to John & Helen (Zimbauer) Gagas.
His marriage to Elizabeth M. Woyak took place on February 6, 1960. She passed away on June 23, 2009.
Tony worked for local farmers from the age of 10, as well as working the family farm. He worked for Joerns/Sunrise Medical from 1959 until his retirement. He also worked for Steinburg Dairies hauling milk to the Iola Creamery, as well as having his own lawn and snow removal business. Tony was such a hard worker, usually working 3 jobs at a time all his life.
He had an avid green thumb, loved planting plants, the outdoors, all animals & cutting his grass. He and the site of his little red Ford pickup truck will be sadly missed around town. No matter where you went around town, you would see his little red truck and him pushing a lawnmower.
The family would like to thank the Hospice teams in Stevens Point & Marshfield for their outstanding care and kindness. Special thanks to Tina Ryburn, a wonderful family friend who was near and dear to Tony's heart.
Survivors include his daughter: Christine M. Gagas-Betro, M.S. of Stevens Point, three grandchildren: Nathaniel Rayne Betro, Angelica Jade Hope & Dylan Newton-Anthony Hope all of Stevens Point.
Five sisters: Alice (Stanley) Koback, Agnes Kowalski, Mary, Ernestine & Florence Gagas all of Stevens Point. One brother: Joe Gagas of Polonia.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: John, Stanley, Benny, and infant brother: Clarence, and one sister: Leona.
Funeral services: Thursday 4:00 pm at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home at 703 Second St. in Stevens Point. Visitation from 3:00 pm until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Burial in Guardian Angel Cemetery will take place at a later date.
God only takes the flowers he needs to complete his garden, we can't control it, only accept it.
