Bernard "Bernie" J. Wisniewski:
Age 70, of Stevens Point, passed away on Friday, September 3, 2010 at his home after a courageous one year battle with brain cancer. Bernie peacefully passed under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice Services and surrounded by his loving family.
He was born April 15, 1940 in Stevens Point, the son of the late John & Johanna (Lesczynski) Wisniewski. He attended local schools.
On October 21, 1961, Bernie married Marcy Hytry at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point. She survives.
Bernie was employed at the Stevens Point Journal for 42 years, starting out as a Paperboy and finishing his employment as a Press Foreman, retiring in 2000.
Bernie enjoyed spending time at his cabin up north, fishing, golfing and was an avid sports fan. He also enjoyed spending time with all his Granddaughters.
He was a member of the Knight of Columbus Council #1170.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in his name will be established at a later date.
Survivors include his wife: Marcy, three daughters: Anne (Kirk) Vogt of Greenville, SC, Jane Wisniewski of Eagan, MN and Julie (Bill Timm) Wilkinson of Stevens Point. One son: Scott (Jennifer) Wisniewski of West Bend. 5 granddaughters: Kelsey, Jordan, Zoee, Madeline and Lexie. One sister: Helen Hoppa of Tacoma, WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter: Kylee Timm.
Bernie's family wishes to thank Ministry Home Care Hospice Services and the Oncology Unit of Ministry St. Michael's and Ministry St. Joseph's Hospitals for great care they extended to Bernie.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Stevens Point. Rev. Dennis Stanchik Officiating. Burial will take place in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 9:00 AM Saturday until the time of services at St. Stephen's Church. Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral home assisted the family with arrangements.
