Bernice Laskowski, 103 of Stevens Point, peacefully passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. She was born on August 21, 1922 and was raised on a farm in Amherst, Wisconsin where she also attended school.
Later she met and married John Laskowski at St. Mary’s Mount Carmel Church on October 23, 1943 and was married for 58 years until his passing. After they married, they moved to the town of Dewey, Stevens Point where they lived on and worked on the family farm throughout their lives, raising their children.
Bernice loved gardening and beautifying her flower beds, which at the age of 95 she retired.
She enjoyed traveling in and out of state, sightseeing, going to the church picnics, going out for breakfast at Olympia restaurant, watching the Packer games, having family gatherings. She was a member of the Rosary Society, the church choir, the Polish Heritage choir. For years, she led the singing for the daily masses. And later led the rosary before mass.
In 2025 on her 103rd birthday, the Town of Dewey chairman, Maurice King, presented a certificate to proclaim that August 21 will be honored and known as “Bernice Laskowski Day in our Township of Dewey”.
Surviving family members are Bernice’s children and in-laws: Betty Wendt, Donna Rutta, Chet (Carol) Laskowski, John Junior Laskowski, Lucille, Frank (Linda Mezich), Margaret, Janice Laskowski, Jackie Doyle, Robert, and Monica (Larry) Park.
She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Adeline Kenowski.
Bernice also had 17 grandchildren with 10 spouses and significant other others, 28 great grandchildren with five spouses, and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Martha Kenowski, siblings and in-laws: Agnes, Evelyn (Joe) Loecher, Greg (Irene) Kenowski, Raymond (Delores) Kenowski, Harry, and Henry Kenowski, Jerla (John) Prutz, and Ambrose (Virginia) Kenowski. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Frank and Agnes Laskowski, her in-laws, Agnes (Ed) Tetzloff, Dorothy (Frank) Kavatek, Herman (Emily) Laskowski, Victor (Marcella) Laskowski, and Greg Laskowski.
She was further preceded in death by her children, Kathleen, Marion, Constance Duggins, and Tom Laskowski and daughter-in-law, Janet Laskowski, sons-in-law, Frank Hietkowski, Robert Duggins, Jeff Wendt, Eric Rutta, and her husband, John Laskowski, and her grandson, Peter Laskowski.
Her extended family includes many nieces and nephews, friends at church, and neighbors.
Bernice was deeply grateful for the many beautiful bouquets of flowers, the homemade treats, delicious soups, fresh vegetables, fruit, fruits, venison, and fish from family and friends.
Many heartfelt things to all family members, especially Lucille and Margaret, who dedicated their time in providing 24-hour home care service for her 100th birthday.
Bernice will not only be remembered for her kindness, generosity, strong, work ethic, and loving spirit, but above all, her constant love and devotion to her family, and Lord God, and the Blessed Mother Mary. She will be forever loved and missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Bernice will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Sacred Heart Church, 7375 Church Street, Custer. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of services at the church. Fr. Francis Dias will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary Torun Parish Cemetery.
