Age 87 of Stevens Point died late Saturday morning April 8, 2017 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Bertha was born June 14, 1929 in Stevens Point to the late Anton F. and Veronica (Hintz) Hintz. She attended St. Stanislaus Parochial grade school and graduated from P. J. Jacobs High School. Her marriage to Frederick W. Epright took place on February 11, 1950 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. After their marriage the couple settled in Stevens Point. Her husband Frederick preceded her in death on May 1, 2005.

Bertha worked for Hardware Mutual for a number of years before deciding to raise her family. She then worked for the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point in Food Service for over 20 years until her retirement in 1994.

She enjoyed canning tomatoes and pickles, and loved to cook huge meals for her family to share during the holidays, especially Christmas when she would make her special pumpkin pies. She also would make her famous banana bread to share with all of her family. Her most precious time was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren especially up north. She was an avid Wisconsin sports fan who loved watching the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Badgers.

She had a special love for birds and was quite the Canasta player. Bertha was a devout Catholic and prayed the rosary daily and was a faithful member of St. Stephens Catholic Church.

In Lieu of flowers, a memorial in Bertha's name will be established at a later date.

Survivors include her children; Pam (Don) Flatoff of Stevens Point, Pat Burm of Custer, Bill (Cathi) Epright of Stevens Point and Karen (Mark) Swenson of Plover. Further survived by her loving grandchildren; Erik Helgemo, Jocelyn Barnwell, Nicole Burm, Jacinda (Dan) Freres, Alyssa (Alex) Krueger, Nate (Lauren) Swenson and Joel (Tami) Swenson, her six great grandchildren Jadyn & Jazzelyn Barnwell, Jameson Freres, Luke & Jack Swenson and Oliver Swenson. One sister-in-law Marcella Monien.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frederick, three sisters Evelyn Rutta, Frances Stoffel and Angeline Leow, three brothers Joseph, Chester and Leo Hintz, two sister in laws Lorraine Hintz and Phyllis Engebretson and four brother in laws Benedykt Rutta , Herbert Stoffel, Robert Leow and Melvin Engebretson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday April 12, 2017 at St. Stephens Catholic Church. Rev. Jerzy Rebacz officiating. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Pisarski Funeral Home in Stevens Point, and from 9:30 A.M. Wednesday morning at St. Stephens Church until the time for mass. There will be a parish rosary prayed at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. The Pisarski Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family. The family would like to thank the staff at Lifeline, St. Michaels Emergency room staff, and especially the wonderful third and fourth floor doctors, nurses, chaplains and staff at St. Joseph's Hospital for their loving care given to our mother. You all made this difficult time a little easier for us.
