Betty Jane Veronica Kurtzweil, daughter of the late Anton and Theresa (Halkowitz) Neuman, was born on December 7, 1931, in Edgar, Wisconsin. She departed this life on September 9, 2026, at Dimensions Living in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Betty was united in marriage to Norbert James Kurtzweil on November 25, 1950, at Edgar, Wisconsin. She lovingly raised ten children while living in Edgar, Wisconsin and then moved to Stevens Point, Wisconsin in the 1960’s. In 1984 she and Norbert retired to Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas. While in Horseshoe Bend, she started working for the owners of Crown Point Resort with office work and ultimately retired two separate times, the latest being in 2025 at 93 years of age. Due to her extensive time working at the resort, she earned the nickname of ‘The Legend of Crown Point’. While living in Horseshoe Bend, she was a very active member of the St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church, including singing in the Sunday choir and as secretary of the Women’s Guild. She was also a very active golfer and member of various card clubs, as well as a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

She leaves to mourn her passing: five sons, Steven Kurtzweil and wife Kathy of Chaska, Minnesota, Timothy Kurtzweil of Giessen, Germany, Gregory Kurtzweil and wife Karen of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Laurance Kurtzweil and wife Mary of Rome, Wisconsin, Jerold Kurtzweil of Edmonds, Washington, and Mark Woodka of Chicago, Illinois and Barb Kurtzweil of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, and Cathy Hetzel of Stevens Point, Wisconsin; seventeen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren as well as great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters Dyan Lea Kurtzweil Lopez and Sarah Marie Kurtzweil, three sons, Howard James Kurtzweil, Richard Paul Kurtzweil and Terrance Gerard Kurtzweil, one brother, Aloys Neuman, and two sisters, Rosella Voelker and Isabelle Robarge.

A special thank you to the caring staff members from Dimensions Living of Stevens Point, WI and St. Croix Hospice of Stevens Point, WI.
