Dr. C.A. "Mike" Klasinski: age 80, of Stevens Point, WI died peacefully at his home on Monday, June 6, 2011 after 11 years with Parkinson's disease.
He was born December 12, 1930 in Stevens Point. He was the son of the late Leon and Bernice (Harycki) Klasinski.
Mike was very passionate, living life to its fullest. At age 13, he traveled the St. Lawrence Seaway as a deckhand for the Bukolt family on a barge from the Eastern U.S. Coast to Green Bay, delivering wood used for furniture manufacturing. He graduated from St. Peter Grade School and St. Bonaventure High School in Sturtevant, WI.
Mike served in the Armed Forces Security Agency during the Korean War as a skilled linguist of seven languages.
He married Barbara Hadhazy of Posen, IL on June 9, 1956 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in her hometown. They would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year.
Mike furthered his education by attending Loyola University, and Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. He worked his way through college by working on the subway tunnel construction in Chicago. After graduating from medical school, he began a private practice in Wautoma, WI in 1963.
He decided to enhance his medical training by doing a general surgery fellowship at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee, WI followed by a residency in Orthopedic Surgery and a Fellowship in Plastics and Hand Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. He was a member of the following medical organizations: Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery.
In 1968, he founded the Klasinski Clinic, where he was a general orthopedist and the only Fellowship-trained hand specialist in the northern half of Wisconsin. His medical clinic has grown to include a multi-specialty medical complex which includes 12 providers and an Ambulatory Surgical Center.
Mike and his wife, Barbara, established Michele's Restaurant in 1980. His son and daughter-in-law currently own this business continuing the family tradition.
In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, flying seaplanes, swimming, his travels in Mexico, and spending time at his cottage with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, Mike is survived by their five children: Dr. Michele (Mike) Klasinski Wimme of Plover, Jaime (Betsy) Klasinski of Stevens Point, Paula (Dr. Matthew) Riordan of Plover, Thad (Wendy) Klasinski of Stevens Point & Nancy (Steve) Viner of Middlebury, VT.
He is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Logan, Sara, Alex, Luke, Erik, Tyler, Kamen, Austin, Alicia, Natalie, Isaac, Olivia, Noah, Joey and Catherine.
He is also survived by his two brothers: Frank Bernard and Florian (Madeline) Klasinski, sister: Jeanie Stroik, sister-in-law: Agnes Klasinski, and in-laws: Sylvia and Ray Krygowski.
Mike was preceded in death by three brothers: Anthony, Louis and Edmund, and one sister: Clare Byrd.

Funeral Mass: 10:30 AM Friday, June 10, 2011 at St. Peter Catholic Church. Rev. Tom Lindner Officiating. Burial will take place in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Thursday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point and from 9:00 AM until the time of services Friday morning in the St. Faustina Room at St. Peter Church. The Knights of Columbus, of which he was a member, will combine with a general rosary at 7:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home.
